I never got the idea why would Turkey should be in the EU anyway. They are not in Europe geographically, nor culturally, nor religiously, nor ethnically. If they want free trade, please give them free trade. But that's about it.

Germany allows hordes of Afghans and Syrians to settle there. From their point of view the veto against Turkey doesn't make sense. But you are right that it will allow 75 million Turks to come to UK without visa. The solution is to leave this crumbled union.
