Uranium One Russia Scandal
Published on Oct 21, 2017

Two House committees have said that they will investigate the Obama administration’s approval of a deal that gave Russia a financial interest in U.S. uranium production.

The 2010 deal allowed Rosatom, the Russian nuclear energy agency, to acquire a controlling stake in Uranium One, a Canadian-based company with mining stakes in the Western United States.

Sean Hannity reacted to breaking news that the non-disclosure agreement with an informant privy to information involving the Uranium One deal was lifted.

The agreement, similar to a gag order, prevented the individual from discussing what he knew with Congress and others.

He said that Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) is now calling for a special counsel to probe the Uranium One deal.

"The media has been wrong about the Trump-Russia collusion for over a year," Hannity said.

"America's national security was sold out," he said, calling the deal one of the "biggest scandals in American history involving another country."

"People... will need to go to jail," he said.

Sean Hannity said there is now reason for special counsel Robert Mueller to resign his post, citing "conflicts of interest" during the time the Uranium One deal was approved.

Hannity said Mueller, who was FBI director at the time, led a bureau that "clearly had the information" that called into question whether illicit or unethical activity was involved in the arrangement.

Hannity said that there was evidence of "corruption and bribery" involved in the deal, which allowed Russian interests to take ownership of 20 percent of American uranium.

He said Mueller "should resign immediately tonight" because his role as FBI director presents a "conflict of interest" in his probe, which is looking into collusion between American actors and Russia.

"There's no way the American people can trust Robert Mueller to investigate anything Russia related," he added.

Hannity also called into question the roles of current Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was in charge of the investigation into the deal at the time.

He said Rosenstein and then-Attorney General Eric Holder should be questioned by Congress on the matter.

"How is it possible that they never recognized that giving Vladimir Putin 20 percent of our uranium was not a good idea?" Hannity asked.
