A Grand Summon Ceremony was held in the Chanding Monastery in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, lasting for 15 days, which was followed by a series of religious activities. Built in 1295, the Canding Monastery is one of the oldest temples in Amdo area (a historical geographic name referring to today's Amdo-Tibetan-speaking areas in Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan provinces), and is culturally, religiously and historically dominant in Gannan area.
