Yes, that is what I was saying. Any story, however isolated, can be easily taken to signify, however incoherently, some attributes of "Chinese culture". NYT in general has very good reporting on China, but its sinosphere blog is often little more than a collection of interesting stories.

Well, almost every single coverage about China by western media is overwhelmingly negative - like the polar extreme of people's daily...That isn't very convincing in terms of credibility and reporting quality.
And to be honest I cannot really differentiate between NYT, BBC, CNN, Reuters and the likes...is NYT somehow better?
