I guess the commodity is a ‘real’ contradiction in that Marx doesn’t consider the simultaneous use-value vs exchange value of commodities to merely be his minds view of it but a reality which was reflected in often one sided analysis of one or the other in political economic works.

Similarly, word meaning for vygotsky was a real contradiction which was reflected theoretically in one sidedness emphasis on the identity of thought and language or their non identity. Where Vygotsky shows their independent genetic origins overlap and entwine at a certain point such that there was truth in each one sided theoretical position.
