I wish to join, being (or at least exploring) a mix and match of Buddhism (essepecialy the teachings of Drukpa Kunley) and Taoism, with a shade of Pythagoreanism and Celtic paganism.

Cromwell wrote:I'm interested. I usually just refer to myself as a (non-denominational) Christian but, theologically speaking, I'm a Marcionite.

Can that even be considered Christian?

Cromwell wrote:Yes, on account of the fact that I do consider it so.

What are you after?

It just seems strange to call it "Christian" when 99.99999% of Christians would consider it heretical.

That's never stopped any "Christians" in the past, Nets....

Cromwell I am not attacking you, I am just curious, stop being so defensive.

So theology is a popularity contest?

Insofar as terms generally have well-understood meanings, yes.

Ugh.

Merriam Webster's definition of Christian (as an adjective): "of or relating to Jesus Christ or the religion based on his teachings."

Wherever or not Marcion's interpretation of Jesus Christ and his teachings is accurate is neither here nor there (though it would probably make for an interesting topic once the group is formed).

I don't see how something loses a right to be considered Christian, in a general sense, just because at this present time most other Christians reject it. If the Church of England saw a massive loss of membership, overnight, would the remaining Anglicans cease to considered Christian?

None of the scholarship on Marcionism, that I've come across, has spurned the use of Christian as a descriptor, in the general sense.

I notice, however, that you haven't raised this issue with anyone else on the membership list.

I would say that Marcionism is a dualist, gnostic heresy. Tertullian wrote a book against them that records the error of this sect.

But that isn't grounds for exclusion from the group, of course. We welcome followers of fringe sects.
