Greetings, I hereby intend to found an Order of Knights to be known as the Chivalric Order of Liberty. I envision this company to be part charity, part enterprise and part militia. It shall be heroic and virtuous, doing good deeds of all kinds. This is not a discussion group, the point of this group is to act in this world and hone the inner world. To join this order one must to ready to act bravely, work diligently, commune with truth and triumph over evil with the highest character and the noblest of intent. There will be arduous training, there will be challenging tasks and eventually there will be handsome rewards. One day we may have our own micro-state. As founder I take the title Grand Master and the name Wyz Pilot. To join as an initiate one must be ready to commune with the divine, to give oneself utterly in service to all mankind and to the divine. What say you?

I like that you've made the affinity between libertarianism and feudalism explicit here.

Maybe the liberty club would have been a better name.

No that is a terrible name, its sounds like a knitting circle. Adventure! War! Statecraft! Heroism! Mentalism! Daring deeds! Glory!

Its not very much about Mises or Rothbard. I am literally talking about something like a modern day Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (AKA Knights Templar) or Knights Hospitaler, except pan-theistic rather than narrowly Christian.

Oh don't be such a pooper, you are a communist, don't you want to do heroic things too? Like Castro and the rest?

PoFo has become private members club crazy. All this fucking in fighting is a waste of time and energy. The problem is that people's ego is at stake and no one wants to loose face.

I'm not a huge fan of Libertarians but it's a hell of a lot closer to what I have in mind for running the country than the mess we have at the moment. There's no accountability amongst these large governments and never will be.

I'm glad you've realised this also. How can pofo expect to appeal to new members if all the existing members are stuck in their own private clubs. Allow people join groups yes, give them their own private threads that are locked to everyone else, why? It's a case of the chase is better than the catch. People will always be intrigued to set up recruit or join these private clubs but once set up the interest will quickly wane and if it doesn't it will only to serve to further segregate an already sparsely populated forum.

None of this has happened or will happen. This is simply a case of you thinking about it too much and being a little paranoid.

In a couple cases it appears posting has waned within the private clubs, but not all.

Further its a complete misunderstanding of what the clubs do. In this case for instance, the Libertarians can take heed that should they form the group they can discuss topics themselves without interference from anyone else.

Ironically enough dealing with exactly what Anarchist is complaining about.

I agree.
If it is all about new members who regularly post and they are few in number. This infighting is pathetic and Rei has been again been given a hard time ( not that she can't handle herself) When she leaves the forum it will be PoFos loss. Lets stop bitching and move on, support new members..I had an idea that new members be given support.(??)

While we certainly support new members and don't wish old members to scare them off prematurely, I can't say that "its all about new members".

PoFo is about all members new or old.

What infighting?

anarchist23 wrote:When she leaves the forum it will be PoFos loss.

You mean "if", correct? If anything Rei has shown a propensity to stick around despite her many detractors. If she ever decides to leave I'm pretty sure it will be of her own volition and nothing more.

anarchist23 wrote:Lets stop bitching

The only ones I can see bitching here are you and Jessup, who does absolutely nothing on this forum except bitch about something or someone endlessly.

anarchist23 wrote: support new members.

This is already being done. Whether you see it or not is not the issue.

anarchist23 wrote:I had an idea that new members be given support.

As I said, they are being supported in all possible ways known to the limits of the number of staff that are available to run the site.

Pursuant to your kind and thoughtful comment, I offer this post on libertarian monarchism for some further elaboration of what my underlying thinking is for this Chivalric Order.

To use communist terminology this company of knights will serve as a "vanguard elite" for the creation of a libertarian monarchy. The target area for this noble enterprise is yet to be determined but will most likely be some place urgently in need of some order and peace, a failed republic or area overrun by bandits and warlords.

Great. I have asked annatar, he/she is thinking about it but seems interested.

To be clear this project is not like the other private member clubs, its not just a talking circle, it is the beginning of an actual practical organisation that will do business, engage in conflicts and all sorts of other real world shenanigans, including nation building.

Your first quest as an initiate is to attend a 10 day course in Vipassana meditation. There you will learn some very vital techniques for improving moral and spiritual awareness. Its potent stuff and very beneficial. Its free of cost the first time you go. The organisation has centres all over the world so hopefully there will be one within reasonably easy reach.

After initiation the next step is to think about a specialism and to begin training for it. There will be four branches to the order: security, enterprise, charity and community. For example if you wanted to specialise as a combat knight you will take on some training in martial arts, marksmanship, athletics etc.

Questions?

Wow,I thought we just going be nostalgic about Chivalry, and try to practice it in every day life, I can't do that Indian spiritual part for many reasons, One:I think it's a scam;Two:I don't know much about Hinduism to practice yoga; Three: I'm not even Hindu;
Four: I'm a lapsed Christian mostly Theist; Five:I'm not spending money on something I don't trust; Six:That involves spending a lot of time which I don't have during the Summer and Collage, I'm 19 and live in the Bronx;Seven:I'm already going to the gym and planning to try boxing soon, then work my way up to Martial Arts; and Eight: We do not have enough members to start the branches so hold your horses.

okay no knighthood for you! You can stay as laity, if you like, a supporter with no special responsibilities.
On Vipassana meditation 1. Its not a scam. 2. its not hindu or yoga. 3. its not hindu. 4. it doesn't matter what religion you are. its like mental karate, its not unchristian to learn karate is it? 5. Its free. 6. Its only takes ten days. It doesn't matter how old you are. The nearest centre to you is Massachusetts, not totally beyond reach to you surely? 7. Great. 8. I know its early days, I'm thinking ahead.
