Definitely agree with the Holden Viva.
If I’m not mistaken the Viva was introduced to replace the old Astra because the new Astra was considered to cost too much for a small/medium car. Funny thing is the more expensive European Astra out sells the Viva 3 to 1.

Looks like Holden got it wrong when deciding to re-badge Daewoo’s.

Just yesterday I was reading on that site, CarAdvice.com.au, about Aussie Fords, and of course the Holdenaewoo Epica came in a discussion.

The long rants against Korean badge-engineering and the Viva/Epica duo were very funny. I don't want to sound too much like a Ford fan again, but given the Mondeo and new Focus are on their way to Oz, it'll be a tough time for them.

Is the new Focus the same line as the current one? They are a nice drive. (ie from Germany). Their bringing back the Mondeo?? I thought they scrapped that piece of shite.

Yes it's the same as the actual one, but the Focus has been revamped for 2008. It gets a new design, but a revamped drivetrain, and a new double-clutch auto transmission built by the same folks who build Volkswagen's acclaimed DSG tranny.



As to the Mondeo, they're bringing the whole new version, built on the platform of the Car of the Year award-winning S-Max sports van. It'll be delivered in an XR5 version motored by the Volvo-sourced 2.5L turbo 5-banger of the Focus XR5.
