If liberalism has murdered socialism, who forgot to tell the French?

The French socialist party are not real socialists they are liberals. Call me when thy start nationalising things without compensation at bayonet point and I will cheers. Hell I would go over there and help. Until then they are worthless.

Murder implies malicious intent.

Since socialism epistemically followed liberalism from Kant and Rousseau, I can't say so unless accounting for abortion.

That said, most socialists account for that, so if it happened, you could say socialism was asking for it.

I see no real connection between liberalism and socialism.

From what I can see Liberalism merely co-opted and re-packaged lot of the socialist (and conservative) themes that could be easily sold to the middle classes. Perhaps it not only murdered socialism it murdered conservatism.

The core aim seems to be to gather as much freedom and privilege as they can for the middle class (and big money), but I cant be sure because the core values are ambiguous and relative.

It seems to be a branding exercise more than a political philosophy.

Whats are the core aims of liberalism?

"Liberalism promotes dissention and to become not disciplined" - Mao Zedong

"Combat Liberalism" - Mao Zedong

Liberals are a retarded bunch with no morals or loyalties, no plans and have been infatuated destroying the traditional family with it's manipulation of the mass media as it's deadly weapon. Hell even Anastasio Somoza who was a Liberal was betrayed by Jimmy Cater when he cut all weapons shipments to Central America, Liberals are all fake Socialists,Communists, that have no balls when they're comes a time to ACT

The real tragedy is that American Modern Liberalism has bastardized the term Liberalism. That's why I like to refer to myself as a Classical Liberal or Libertarian to distinguish myself from those who have ruined the term.

Modern liberalism and libertarianism are both descendants of classical liberalism, and neither of them quite resembles the original because the conditions on the ground have changed. What liberals have done with the term is nothing compared to what you guys have done to the term "libertarian," which originally referred to a form of socialism.

As with liberalism, socialism has changed meaning throughout the ages - why would you expect it differently? Not to mention Proudhon is a "socialist" that libertarians have great admiration for. Additionally, some "libertarians" still like to call themselves "socialists" of this kind (i.e. in society outside of government) e.g Kevin Carson.

Sheldon Richman wrote:...Thomas Hodgskin (1787-1869), a free-market radical who was one of the first to apply the term “capitalist” disparagingly to the beneficiaries of government favors bestowed on capital at the expense of labor. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, “socialism” did not exclusively mean collective or government ownership of the means or production but was an umbrella term for anyone who believed labor was cheated out of its natural product under historical capitalism.

Tucker sometimes called himself a socialist, but he denounced Marx as the representative of “the principle of authority which we live to combat.” He thought Proudhon the superior theorist and the real champion of freedom. “Marx would nationalize the productive and distributive forces; Proudhon would individualize and associate them.”
