What is the precise goal of this synthesis? To make socialism accepting of Islam or to make Islam socialistic?

To add to Donald's inquiry:

What is the precise idea of 'socialism' that you have here? Modern Islam does lend itself to authoritarianism so I doubt you mean a liberal-socialism (like social democracy or something of the sorts) or any form of democratic socialism (but I don't know enough about Islam to rule this out). But Islam also seems incompatible with Marxist socialism.

It's pretty much similar to Christian Socialism. It refers to Biblical passages and the early life of Christ as the foundation stones for poor-helping, welfare state socialism. Religion isn't inconsistent with socialism at all.

Religion emphasizes on charity for helping poor that is libertarianism not socialism, big difference.

Probably to create "socialism with Islamic characteristics". :D

The religious right would like you to believe that, but there's ample reason to believe this is not the case. The Old Testament demands not only that people give to the poor, but that the poor be given the right to glean the fields. It mandates that debts be forgiven every 49 years. There are strong condemnations of usury. Granted, this sort of stuff doesn't necessarily equal socialism, but it sure as hell isn't libertarian. The Social Gospel and Liberation Theology movements are well within the Biblical tradition.

I am not saying its only charity but emphasize this method most almost every religion does so.

Its always funny how old and universal the idea of socialism is.

I wouldnt have guessed there are islamic examples, too.

Charity isnt a welfare state, and having a good or at least sufficient welfare state alone doesnt create a socialism at all.
