Hi,

In the last few years, I have become gradually more and more interest in politics. After some research, I have decided that I am indeed a socialist (although I am also quite anarchist) and wanted to know what others thought of my ideas:

I believe that society should have the goal of a) Bettering the quality of life of all of it's members and b) Managing resources in such a way that the next generation may enough an equally good, or more progressively good quality of life.

A society needs a government; a group that is permitted to determine laws, taxes and subsidies to control extreme entities in society to maintain the goals for society I stated above. For this government to be effective in this aim, it must be a democracy. A government should not decide on laws or policies, only organise their regulation and implementation. Policy and law must be voted upon by all members of society. To maintain the democratic, every action undertaken by the government must be 100% transparent and open to easy access by all members of society. The government must be regulated by an independent body, and any corruption can invoke a vote of no-confidence by members of society. When this occurs, it must be an independent body that organise and collects these votes to prevent further corruption.

Workers or contributors to society control the means of production through referendums and voting systems. They decide on policy and production methods. Free education for all members of society is available, the resources of which are provided for by the government from the workers. The government acts only as a body for organising the redistribution of resources that society produces, rather than an owner. Free education is essential to the voting system, as only educated individuals will make a wise and justified decision. Their education must be free of any political bias. This must be regulated by an independent body made up of any voluntary citizen members of society.

Research and development is a factor of production, and so equally the government must fund scientific research that works towards the original goals of society. The redistribution of resources is organised by the workers (members of society).

Freedom of information is an essential ingredient to the system. Information from research and development must always be open and accessible to all members of society, and free communication between any two members of society is essential to preventing corruption and autocratism.

Disease, disabilities or ill health is seen as a misfortune rather than an a cost for which someone must pay, and for that reason healthcare should be provided, along with all other resources, by the rest of society, using the government as a re-distributor to organise fair allocation of these resources and services. For each according to his need rather than for each according to his ability is an important principle, and so those who have disabilities or who are unable to work must be given adequate resources to live their life in relatively good health and comfort.

As to incentives to work, a strong education system must reinforce the principles of work as a means by which the lives of everyone in society can improve. Solidarity and shared values are important to how the system works. Those who do work beyond their ordinary amount may get more resources. To do this, local government must exist to deal with individual citizens. These local governments may organise the redistribution of resources in small towns or villages, but each have ties to the central government, to allow external resources to be redistributed. To prevent corruption, independent regulators must frequent these sub-governments regularly and take continuous polls on the opinions of people in those areas. These must be then made public to uncover any failings made by these governments.

Of course, these ideas are very idealistic and will only work properly when no external nations exist for the rich to flee too, and it also assumes that the nation has the natural resources neccesary to sustain its own economy.

Any thoughts on these ideas?

Definately agree. I don't know how human life on earth otherwise could survive long time.

A society needs a government

No, but a society needs rules and stability.

Also agreed. But this form of participation depends on a high level of responsibility for society.
