Now I have been a Communist before, but it was more along the lines of Marxist-Leninism, and I was alot younger. But, I am curious as to the position of Socialists on whether Socialism is pro-luddite or anti-luddite. Also I am aware of the different subsections of socialism, so if you do answer please state which socialism you most closely identify with.

Thanks in advanced for your explainations!

There are of course Luddite "socialists", aka Primitivists. But they are a tiny grouping even among communist groupings.

All genuine socialism is based on building on top of the existing structure. This cannot be reconciled with a Luddite perspective.

I'm not a commie but if you'll indulge me.....

I expect a thorough welfare system would reduce Luddite and protectionist sentiments amongst workers. If you had access to free education and training, significant unemployment insurance and subsidised housing then you have less to fear from a prospective job loss than someone who would be left high and dry after the factory automates or relocates.

Such policies are compatible with capitalism though.
