Describe the form the revolution you're thinking of would take.

I'd fight until I could stand no more to oppose a "Socialist Revolution" in my country.

I think that was left open. He just wanted to ask non-socialists would they oppose or support a proletarian revolution. I'd think most non-socialists would either remain more or less passive or end up siding with the revolution. Atleast I know very few real anti-socialists as compared to those who don't see a reason to support socialism (atleast for now) but who don't really oppose it either.

If the socialist revolution looks like it would go the way of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or the People's Republic of China, I would have to oppose it. I don't exactly like the idea of the state trying to control the people through the media, through intimidation, and through force (yes, I know the United States already does all three but not to the extent the Soviet Union did). I would never want to see one person come to dominate the politics of this country. I would not like to see a militant attitude taken towards nonsocialist countries, which would create a bipolar world like during the Cold War.

I prefer the gradual, nonviolent form of progress done through existing institutions of power if possible. Anyway, if the socialist revolution would be a step towards communism, or at least the partisan and micromanaging communist ideology frequently exhibited here, I'd want no part in it.

No. If socialism wants power it should get it democratically.

I would fight against it.

If a revolution were to start now in the US, I'd probably move to Canada. Not really sure one way or the other. I may support it just for a change of pace, but I may also be involved in an overthrow a year later.

That won't happen here. Though if it does, you can count on my moving to the mountains and starting a guerrilla war. :)

I'd fight against it just as my greatgrandfather did in 1918 here in Finland.

Why would any person who is against socialism let a revolution occur?
This a very silly forum posting.

i'm a socialist and if we had a revolution like russia or china i would oppose it. and america is no different than the ussr in it's control of media. it just does it much more subtley (study advertising through a sociological sense). as for opposing non socialist countries, isnt that what capitalist countries do oppose non capitalist countries, even assasinate socialist leaders (chile). i would never support a violent revolution. i think there are many ways to organize change wihtout resorting to electoral politics (which is a failure). people can refuse to pay taxes and effectively bankrupt the government. even better is the advent of flash mobs, organize flash strikes.[/lies]

I would not support any revolution in Canada as long as we are mostly democratic. If some time in the future Canada ceased to be democratic at all, I may support an armed uprising, but not a revolution with the goal of replacing a regime with another regime or to advance socialist goals.

If there was a socialist revolution in America, i'd remain neutral. I can't see fighting to preserve our current juvenile sociopolitical construct, nor can i see myself actively advocating or fighting for a specific new one...

i can't imagine that there would be a socialist revolution that would support any theoretical sociopolitical concepts that i'd agree with, in any event.

I'd support a socialist revolution led by people with ideas similar to Dubcek or Nagy. Socialism does not require an omnipresent bureaucracy and a blatant disregard for civil liberties to succeed.

Why would such people lead a socialist revolution? They never built nor attempted to build socialism in their respective countries.

I would support and fight for a Socialist Revolution if it was the only way forward. Where we can gain power democratically we have a duty to do so. Where we are prevented from doing so a popular revolution is acceptable, neccesary and justified.

If there was a socialist revolution in the states, I'd definitely pick up my gun (I have the right to bear arms) and go out there to purge my country of the infidels.

I figure if I shoot enough of them, the country's employment rate will drop.

I'd strongly support it, and try and climb as high as I could in the vast bureaucratic morass. By any measure, it'd be a vast improvement over our contemporary society.

Marx and Engels stated that the overall revolution would have to be a violent one. I would fight for it, and if it was won, I would be on the lookout to stop any attempts at Stalinist counter-revolution. I would also do whatever I could to help crush Bourgeoisie resistance if it was won as well.
