According to a new rule imposed by Turkish Football Federation, only women and children aged under 12 are allowed in to the matches that would be played in empty stadiums due to punishment for unruly fan behaviors.

On Saturday, about 50 thousands of women and children attended Fenerbahce’s match against Sivasspor in Istanbul. Fenerbahce won the game 4-2.

The rule was firstly practised last september when more than 40,000 women and children attended Fenerbahce's match which resounded around the world. After that, Besiktas was also punished for one match, but they could not manage to gather more than 5,000 women to the stadium.

A similar rule was also imposed in Netherlands inspired by the Turkish idea. Last month Ajax asked the Dutch association (KNVB) to permit women and children to attend the match but the federation decided that only children would be allowed to attend because of a law that requires equal treatment of men and women. The match was played between Ajax and AZ Alkmaar, where about 20 thousands of children attended.

Devrim, do you remember that Syria thread you made about feminist socialists supporting Assad?

This rather supports the paper I showed you about wars being fought over polygamy (which Islam has no problem with).

The Dutch side of the story is rather interesting too considering its opposition to Islamic practice.

I suppose this isn't all bad though. It will encourage men to play sports rather than just watch them, but it's sexual discrimination nonetheless.

Yes I read a bit. But I should say that I could hardly understand it as my english is not at academical level. But it would be good if you summarized that

Actually I don't know why you are trying to find a connection with Islam about those issues. It had nothing to do neither with this, nor with women's rally in Syria.

And positive discrimination toward women is a good step I think. That's what all of societies need.

We got the same kind of punishments. The latest one was quiet intresting. The gays wanted to have an exception. It got denied because how do you proof that? Oh and while they were at it... we don't want to proof women are women, so.. no women too. Just kids age 12 or younger.

The officials are basically allowing clubs to circumvent any possible loss of income due to punishments.

Normally a team's fans chant vituperative cheers against the opposing team; the Turkish Football Federation penalizes said team with a monetary fine and forbids fans from going to the stadium for a single (or more) matches. Normally, that would be it. Having lost the crowd advantage and being deprived of ticket income, the team and its fans would have to act more mindful in the future. But no. Now female fans and children can attend the match regardless of the punishment. The club earns money from tickets and the home team retains crowd advantage - neither the team nor the male miscreants correct their behavior. This violates the spirit of the punishment. This is yet more evidence that Turkey is turning into a corporate bordello.*

* This is nothing compared to the practices of the licensed broadcaster (Digiturk-Lig TV) and the people responsible for the sponsorship monies given to the clubs - the unfair practices of the Federation are also infuriating.

Also, Fenerbahçe is a disgusting team and its former chairman has finally been brought to justice on account match-fixing, briberey and so on. Their fans are dellusional enough to believe that their cause is right and have the temerity to complain to people who want to uphold the rule of law.
