Fate can start you at the bottom. Dreams can take you to the top.

2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has gone from the streets of Sepolia to the top of the NBA. To celebrate we put this hoop on the top of Mount Olympus, the highest point in Greece.

Oh wow :excited:

So Nike (Roman equivalent Victoria) , the goddess of victory places a hoop at the (rather strategic) mythological home of the victorious gods. I don’t wanna analyze it too much, but I’m tempted too...

That's trashy. I read somewhere the Greek government was auctioning off its cultural sites to corporations but allowing corporations to use them as advertising is like something out of Idiocracy. :knife:

What you heard was bullshit. Greece does not auction off any of its cultural sites and stupidly does not even allow hollywood or advertising firms to go near the cultural sites. That is not a cultural site and entrance to something is not required. Haters gonna hate regardless.

It's stupid not to allow hollywood and madison ave to degrade your cultural heritage?

It might not be officially designated as such but there is no question of its cultural and archeological significance.

Haters gonna hate regardless.

I do despise hollywood and corporate advertising but not because I'm just looking for shit to hate on, I despise them for the way they have debased the culture and commodified everything under the sun.

A half-black basket player from Japan made it to the NBA. Hachimura was drafted 9th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. Pure-blooded Asians or Europeans almost have no chance to get there.

It's bullshit fake news and demonstrates exactly what I told you, your article does not mention selling any cultural heritage site anywhere in the entire article. First of all there is absolutely nothing wrong with leasing the ticket management, security and food stalls to private companies. It is standard practice all across the world and it would make the monuments all the better. But in Greece it never went through and last summer when I was in the Acropolis the state-managed food-stalls had run out of bottled water!!! For Greek people hiring a private security guard in the Acropolis means "selling the Acropolis". Or leasing a theatre for a few hours to Calvin Klein to host a catwalk show. That is what they mean when they say that in the article and that is absolutely ridiculous. And even that created protests on the streets!! Can you even fathom that?

It's stupid not to allow hollywood and madison ave to degrade your cultural heritage?

You can set terms and conditions regarding the final cut and it's free advertising, but as above, for Greek people and government even that is way too much to bear. Greece contrary to the US and the UK requires a heavy dose of free-enterprise economics and politics as these socialist bullshit have stalled the development of the country to a huge degree but ultimately the state-managed sites provide subpar services and the state makes less money than it would be if it leased out these services and if it would allow private companies to do tv, fashion, music, film shows in ancient monuments for the right price of course. Instead of banning it altogether which is traditional state policy, it could simply regulate it well and make money off them. Italy, France and Britain have excelled in doing that exactly and nobody is claiming that they are selling out their cultural heritage.

I do despise hollywood and corporate advertising but not because I'm just looking for shit to hate on, I despise them for the way they have debased the culture and commodified everything under the sun.

You sound like an average Greek person, the only difference is that in Greece this is actual government policy for decades and even today after the crisis, that is actually the official Greek state policy. You are banging the wrong drum here. In Greece your views are a reality.

That’s because white men (and Asians) can’t jump yo!

What gorgeous young men. They look very sharp in their suits and so humble. Their ethnicities are obvious but that black mans gait is undeniable. Both looked like Shaft walking up to the podium
