According to plato a combination of political & economic power was bound to lead to corruption & an efficient system of administration could operate only if the economic power was absolutely divorced from political power .Therefore ,he pleads that those who exercise political power should have no economic motives &those who who are engaged in economic activities should have no share in political power.
# is this statement is relevant today, if yes to what extent? If no then how?
# practical feasibility of this statement in a democratic /liberal country country...please enlighten me!

Economic and Political power should be divorced. Look at the US. Our wealthy are treated as being experts on political matters, even when they're clearly blowing smoke. People were revving up for Donald Trump to run for President on the GOP ticket, even when he admits he hasn't voted in decades and has made campaign contributions to the DNC. And what's hilarious is how financially incompetent he is. Ideally, economic and political power should be divorced, but I doubt if it will ever happen.

They cannot be divorced. They are one in the same. What is wrong with economic power distribution in politics today is that it is wholly in the hands of a small elite, despite the symbiotic relationship that naturally exists between capital and labor. Economic power needs to be distributed equally between the two, and shared interests mobilized, in the interests of maximizing capacity. The easiest way to do this is through the integration of the political apparatus, which is far more populist than wealth, into national economic planning.
