Although Corporatism is a very broad ideology that is utilized by liberals and conservatives alike in it's core it is a description of how society should be organized and how relationships in society are like. So is Corporatism right? Does it describe how social relations are like and do you agree that society should be organized how Corporatism describes? What are your thoughts on Corporatism? Do you agree or disagree with it? If so, why?

I will be pleased to see your answers.

I'm not a corporatist. For a decent example though South Korea has a workable system in the chaebols.

There's also a difference between big and small c corporatism. Big C tends to be a more fascist idea and small c is about the lobbyist system that much of the west has and isn't really an explicit practice.

I generally don't favor explicit Corporatism as it's more about maintaining political power in the end and hurts the economy. Small c Corporatism is more complicated. Most politicians are lawyers and don't understand certain issues and should to an extent be pushed by various interests and experts. The money that goes into that system is essentially a bribe though and needs to be stopped.

We have to accept that business is important in a capitalist country but also that it shouldn't have a direct seat in the political process since they function to maximize profit which isn't always the same thing as maintaining a healthy economy.

Corporatism isn't necessarily about business (although it is often linked with it) however you did describe a version of Corporatism (but the better word would be Corporativism) so in a way you did talk about Corporatism. However I personally, and although I do not have the right to say this, was looking forward to a discussion about Corporatism as a concept.

Corporatism is the organization of a society based on interest groups, often known as corporate groups be it agricultural, business, ethnic, labour, military, scientific institutions, etc. that are united together based on their common interests. As you can see, although business is a part of Corporatism it is not necessary for Corporatism to work. Of course based on this definition this means that Corporatism can be applied pretty much anywhere. There is progressive, liberal, fascist communitarian, socialist, and reactionary corporatism. You could probably make a form of corporatism that suits your own needs if you want, you could even implement some aspects of corporatism into your ideology (as I did).

What you describe is in fact corporatism, a type of corporatism in which business are the major interest groups and political power is consolidated only to them. In literal corporatism all interest groups from all types would be given major political power.

Switzerland is an example of a corporatist government as well. Switzerland is organized into cantons and each of these cantons is essentially an interest group or corporate. What unites these cantons into one country is their common interests in foreign policy, economic growth, defense, and law and order.

That isn't true. Defining whether or not a government is corporatist depends on it's structure since corporatism is a form of organization, not government. A democracy isn't corporatist simply because there's some form of bureaucracy or a middle man. For example, Japan, South Korea, China, and to an extent, Britain and the US are all examples of a corporatist government because of the way they are organized.

What makes a government corporatist is organization and society, not if there's just some simple bureaucracy.
