You guys actually liked that? :?:

I hated them all. That kind of romantic, pretty-pretty "art" makes me sick.

Some of Bouguereau's comments help us understand the manner in which he perceived nature and its representation in his art:

"Paint as you see and be accurate in your drawing: the whole secret of your art is there."9

 "paint as you see"... and the guy has people in some of the most awkward and unnatural postures I have ever seen, and ANGELS ffs.

Sure, the guy can paint, but what he paints is sickening shit.

I do like his presentation of the human form, if only he would do the backgrounds with the same pedantity.

So like, I beg to differ. :)

EDIT: Now heres a painter for you:

and he is Finnish too! :D

Why exactly is it so 'sickening'?

Because some of the works include mythological beings, or am I missing something?

Sounds like Hitler and his dislike for 'decadent' art.

Slip, Freudian, I agree, that guy is good as well, for some reason he reminds me of a lot of Australian art that features scenes from the colonial days.

I can't say that I like that Mark Walker guy- I agree, he is talented, but most art painted before 1900 just doesn't do it for me.

Here are my favourite artists:

Richard Deacon
This is a good link...

Wassily Knadinsky
Tracey Moffat
Marc Chagall
Felix Gonzalez-Torres
Cy Twombly
