OK. Well, there's been a bit too much America bashing on the forums lately. So - what the heck - I decided to write a Hymn to America. It might be a bit too schmaltzy for some, but anyway. You need to have those sort of dumbed-down, patriotic lyrics to get huge crowds interested. Tell me what you think.

I designed it to be sung to what is the tune of the Russian National Anthem - simply because it is quite rousing music. The music can be found here: http://www.marxists.org/history/ussr/so ... anthem.mp3 . Try singing along, ignoring the original version (it can be done quite easily). It's basically Chorus, Verse, Chorus Verse....

America noble, high-minded America
Ruler of nations and guardian of right
Strengthen democracy, keep safe our freedoms
Eliminate evils and exercise might.
Forward America! God bless America!
Union of equals in brotherhood strong!
Cry forth ‘America!’ Blessed America!
Keeper of life and avenger of wrong!

Why did I feel that "empyrean" is a hint for "imperial"? Am I reading too much into the words? lol

Maxim says: "I figured that the Hymn served as an indictment of the two-faced nature of the current US administration. It is, on the surface, a simplistic call to patriotism, and yet a clear pattern emerges in the sub-text: that the US will bugger the world for the sake of its own self-interest."

Singing in English sounds bad in general, and especially with an essentially classical piece as the background.

Don't get me wrong, you did a nice job rhyming the piece, but since I don't like America, I don't like the piece as well.
