Aside from the laws he broke as president. Look up the financial investigation that's happening.

THis son of bitch needs to go to prison.

America is a shithole.

This is why the American Republic is doomed. If Trump goes unpunished for his attempted coup, then others will draw the lesson that they too can attempt this without fear of any consequences. And, sooner or later, one of them will succeed. The Roman Republic was doomed from the moment Sulla occupied Rome with his army and was not punished for doing so. A few years later, Julius Caesar did the same. And after him, Octavian, who became the Emperor Augustus. And the Roman Republic was dead, never to rise again.

The 'political capital' of civilization.

It seems they may get him for things other than the Capitol drama. I do hope he's eventually charged for trying to pull an election fraud in GA.

This is damage-control -- Trump is *waaaaayyyyy* more culpable, and accountable to the public than just in the state of Georgia.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who was then chair of the House Republican Conference and among those on the call when McCarthy said he planned to tell Trump he should resign, has maintained her will and backbone. She said of Trump that he “summoned the mob, assembled the mob and lit the flame.”

Damage control? The ones who support dictators here are Marxists like yourself, not me.

I don't think it will be possible to prove beyond reasonable doubt Trump was trying to carry out a coup. But it should be possible to prove, beyond reasonable doubt, he was trying to commit electoral fraud since he's on tape doing that. It will be just like Al Capone was sent to jail over tax evasion while having been able to dodge other charges, even though everyone knew what he was doing.

Yeeeeaaaahhhhh, no.

*Still* not a Stalinist (looking at watch), so I don't think so on that one. There's even *evidence* now, in the sense that I haven't been cheerleading for Putin's ongoing invasion.

It's not just Trump *alone* -- I think that's the takeaway here. The latest news shows that *many* top Republicans are implicated in the plot, which implies an overall *schism* of authority, and all the things already noted on this thread.

Those who rat him out could be treated leniently in exchange for their cooperation, just as is done with mobsters from time to time.

You're not understanding -- this isn't a *personnel* issue (for the U.S. nationalist industry), as much as it's a *constitutional crisis*, or potentially so, as Potemkin's covered already.

Sure, you can play with your baseball cards, but if *anyone* can just foment a coup in their own interests -- as in Tunisia -- then why even *bother* with democratic elections *at all* -- (!) Is it going to be Biden, or is it going to be Trump? (etc.)

On 25 July 2021, amid ongoing demonstrations concerning government dysfunction and corruption and rises in COVID-19 cases, Kais Saied suspended parliament, dismissed the prime minister and withdrew immunity of parliament members.[98][99] In September 2021, Saied said he would appoint a committee to help draft new constitutional amendments.[100]

It is funny to see that Democrats are still obsessed with Trump. There is two reasons they do it. First, terrible ratings of Democrats ahead of the midterms. Second, it is actually Democratic Party officials who are getting indicted for fabricating the Russiagate story. So they want to shift focus on something else.
