You seem to have a problem with foreign business men. Are you some kind of redneck racist?
You can’t be surprised wealthy people are a little shady, so it must be their foreignness you object to. :)

 I will spare you the long boring dissertation of what I object to and simply observe that if you lie down with pigs ........... you get dirty.

Donald is, essentially, a crook who has been hiding his crimes behind plausible deniability and a platoon of killer lawyers. He has a life long history of doing business with nefarious characters. I suspect the Trump Money Laundromat will be the thing that eventually brings him down. ie. Three years ago, about three months before Mr. Trump announced his candidacy for president, the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network fined the Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City $10 million for “willful and repeated violations of the Bank Secrecy Act” for failing to report suspicious transactions and failing to properly file currency transaction reports and keep proper records.

Stay tuned, the Trump Swamp is being drained  .

Well, it could be that people like Trump exploit the law to their own ends but act within it. It seems less than likely that someone would have a life long habit of committing crimes and never getting caught. Who were the nefarious characters? NBC?

jimjam wrote:I suspect the Trump Money Laundromat will be the thing that eventually brings him down.

He hasn't even been convicted of a single instance of money laundering. Why do you think they will get him now on something they've never got him on before? Is it the hope of discovery whilst violating attorney-client privilege?

Ok. That's nice. However, Trump doesn't own the Trump Taj Mahal casino. That is owned by Tropicana Entertainment now. Trump sold almost every bit of it in 2009. He sold his final stake to Carl Icahn in 2016, while in bankruptcy--meaning it was being run by US bankruptcy court trustees. Trump hasn't been even close to a majority shareholder in it since 2009. If you are looking for shady dealings, you'd be looking at its corporate officers. That didn't include Trump.

Now, as for this Byzantine conspiracy between Trump and Russia, don't you think it is a little weird that Mueller hasn't questioned Natalia Veselnitskaya? She seems to think it's weird.

Russian lawyer questions why Mueller hasn’t contacted her

Mueller, a former FBI director, is leading a federal probe of possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. He has filed charges against multiple former Trump campaign aides.

Veselnitskaya alleged in her interview with the AP in downtown Moscow that if Mueller’s team never questions her, it would mean that it “is not working to discover the truth.”
...
The Senate Intelligence Committee approached Veselnitskaya earlier this year, but she refused to go the United States, saying she feared for her safety. The lawyer and the committee’s investigators instead met in a Berlin hotel on March 26 and talked for three hours.

“That was essentially a monologue. They were not interrupting me,” Veselnitskaya said. “They listened very carefully...Their questions were very sharp, pin-pointed.”

The investigators mainly wanted to know about Trump Tower meeting, she said. Veselnitskaya said she repeated her previous statements about it, insisting that she was not linked to the Russian government and merely wanted to discuss sanctions against Russia.

Interesting that the Senate Intelligence Committee beat Mueller to the punch.

FWIW, the coup attempt has failed.

the latest tidbit:

Last week, McClatchy reported that special counsel Robert Mueller has evidence that Cohen did secretly travel to Prague in the summer of 2016.

Cohen says:

"No matter how many times or ways they write it, I have never been to Prague. "

Shortly after the election Cohen is quoted as saying: “I haven’t been to Prague in 14 years. I was in Prague for one afternoon 14 years ago.”

Do you seriously believe that gambling casinos in in Atlantic City could be operated without the cooperation and blessing of the mafia and that Donald had nothing to do with "shady dealings" with the underworld simply because Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. handled day to day management? That Donald knew nothing of and had no involvement with the rather prominent influence of the mob? That Donald remained as pure as the fresh driven snow and was under the impression that he was simply running a nice hotel? Well we are finally on opposite sides of the debate #21. I think Donald is a helluva lot smarter than you give him credit for.

You must have had a protected upbringing to believe that one can own two gambling joints in Atlantic City without approval from the mob. I was raised with this shit. It was not uncommon for my classmates in high school in Brooklyn to be sons of Mafia.

No sir man ......... if you lie with pigs .... you get dirty. America has a gangster in he White House.

One of the things Hollywood has done is glamorise the criminal gangsters. People have a really distorted view because of it. I have hung around with criminal thugs in Japan. I haven't always kept the best company. I've also been stomped.

Criminal gangsters aren't like in the movies. They are low life, conniving dirt bags.

The Russian lawyer who met with Trump campaign officials in Trump Tower in June 2016 on the premise that she would deliver damaging information about Hillary Clinton has long insisted she is a private attorney, not a Kremlin operative trying to meddle in the presidential election.

But newly released emails show that in at least one instance two years earlier, the lawyer, Natalia V. Veselnitskaya, worked hand in glove with Russia’s chief legal office to thwart a Justice Department civil fraud case against a well-connected Russian firm.

Ms. Veselnitskaya also appears to have recanted her earlier denials of Russian government ties. During an interview to be broadcast Friday by NBC News, she acknowledged that she was not merely a private lawyer but a source of information for a top Kremlin official, Yuri Y. Chaika, the prosecutor general.

This is an important, but not surprising, development. It does give the feeling that the Mueller investigation is speeding up, and that significant findings/charges will arise.

I am simply attempting to follow the happenings of the investigation as it unfolds. It is interesting to note the high level of animosity it brings out in some people who seem convinced that nothing is there in spite of the fact that it is far from over. My feeling is that even if no collusion is found, the investigation serves as a brake on a deranged wannabe dictator who represents 40% of the population to the complete exclusion of 60%. Mueller and a portion of the judicial system seem to be the only parts of our government not intimidated.

No offense but I think this is a tad different from the McCarthy show.

Well if it is, it is the best kept secret in history. It does not bother you than nothing has been shown after all this time? It does not bother you the purpose of the investigation is in direct conflict with what we know is normal behavior for countries?
Oh well, this has all been argued before.

Two things. Of course it is the best kept secret in history (even better than "who murdered JFK  ). Mueller is a very cagey professional and even an amateur like myself knows that it is downright stupid to tip your hand .... especially when playing the highest of high stakes poker games.

You chose to ignore my comment that, even if there was no collusion, Mueller serves the important purpose of maintaining a check on a deranged wannabe dictator. But, then, you probably think Donald is making America great again.

And your comparison to Joe McCarthy is all wet by your own admission. Joe ran TV sideshow that was broadcast daily and, as you stated, Mueller's investigation is "the best kept secret in history". ps. McCarthy's right hand man was Roy Cohn who taught Donald everything he knows about being a ruthless son of a bitch so, maybe, this is where you get the idea that you are watching a replay of the McCarthy show.

Trump can’t keep a secret in the Oval Office, the DNC can’t keep a secret, the CIA and FBI could not keep a secret, but Mueller can?
I am simply shocked a politician would be a worthless SOB. Why can’t we have a saint like Bill Clinton back?
I get the idea from McCarthyism because the whole thing is absurd. It is ridiculous to pretend Russia did anything unexpected or outrageous. It is ridiculous for Democrats to pretend outrage with their own Russian connections that lasted decades.

I rather doubt that Trump, the DNC, the FBI and the CIA have no secrets. You apparently do not get the concept that an investigator who gives daily progress reports and lays out everything he knows is a very stupid investigator who gives those he is investigating lots of time to hide the truth. I love how you and all the others who want Mueller to exit the stage because "he hasn't found anything yet" think you have enough knowledge of the situation to know when all avenues have been explored and there is nothing there. We are not reviewing a traffic speeding infraction. And, once again, you overlook my comment that, if nothing else, Mueller is providing a much needed counter balance to a deranged wannabe dictator.

Bill Clinton was investigated for 45 months why investigate a saint like Trump for more than a week.

Attila The Hun was a first class cad .... therefore leave Donald alone .....

Certainly all who have been conned by, arguably, America's greatest con artist would agree to this.

One Degree wrote:It is ridiculous to pretend Russia did anything unexpected or outrageous.

Of course it is. Russia has been an ally, friend and supporter of America for decades as demonstrated by this picture shown by Putin of nukes over Florida:

I did not overlook it @jimjam . You answered it yourself. I don’t believe Trump is anymore deranged than any of the rest of us. His problems may be different from ours, but I see nothing to be overly concerned with.
Many people have come forward to say he is a very different person in private. Just for the heck of it, how do you account for the minority celebrities who have been willing to stand up and say they like Trump? How do you account for this with your view of him?

Au contraire mon a mi ... There has been a steady progression of indictments and plea bargains, each one a step closer to Trump. Much has been shown, including a President who is now sweating profusely.

When Cohen flips, that may be last straw.

And, I assume you disagree that he desires to remake the American government in the image of the style of management that he is used to and the style he perfected in his family business ....... that of godfather/Dictator.

As far as derangement goes ... let us agree to disagree. I think he is a wack job. Certainly I, too, am a wack job but of a very different sort and ....... I am not POTUS.

One Degree wrote:Many people have come forward to say he is a very different person in private.

This simply means he has a split personality. The fact that he is charming in private does not mean that his charmingness is his real self that negates his deranged self. They are both real and suited for different circumstances.

I form my own opinions and do not need any assistance from "celebrities" in this area.

He is not used to this shit. His MO of ruthless attacks by himself and his pack of lawyer dogs has never failed him in the past. He is off balance and has no plan B MO. Consequently he will double down on plan A and, if plan A continues to be ineffective, he may well unravel in public. (Hopefully on "Fox and Friends" )
