jimjam wrote:On Monday, when the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, rejected one of Mr. Trump’s main attacks on the F.B.I. and declared the bureau had adequate reason to investigate the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, Mr. Barr again stepped in, issuing a statement saying that the F.B.I. instead should not have opened the investigation in 2016.

Barr is the attorney general. That is Barr's prerogative. Durham has already found criminal wrongdoing, which the IG is not authorized to do. Additionally, irrespective of the IGs conclusion about the inception of the investigation, it was clear after the second renewal of the FISA application that the dossier was known to be false. So the third and fourth applications suppressed exculpatory information that would have undercut the renewal of the FISA warrant; hence, they were illegal.

jimjam wrote:“The F.B.I. launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken,” so sez Donald's personal lawyer and America's pretend Attorney General in connection with Donald's latest farcical public relations blitz.

Barr is the Senate confirmed US Attorney General. No amount of whining is going to change that.

jimjam wrote:How about, now, an investigation into interference by Uruguay into the 2016 election.

Uruguay is not adjacent to Russia. They will probably accuse Belarus next. Hell, Jerry Nadler is falling asleep while chairing his own hearings they are so boring.

Big fucking deal. the spineless suckups in the Senate did what they were told to do.

Was wondering if we were going to get some who participated in this thread to admit they were wrong about James Comey and FISA abuse? Any takers ? Amazing that the lefties think the IG report was good for them.

WAPO has a cute reporter that is quite good at getting guys to talk. She has sources in Justice, and they are saying Durham isn't finding anything substantial.

I know what Trump says, but do you have something by somebody that doesn't have his own balls in that fire?

Comey admitted he was wrong. I'm sure people here will tell you that Comey didn't actually admit he was wrong though.

I'm guessing John Durham isn't the kind of guy that falls for honey traps.

I take the news with a grain of salt. I've not read, but listened to Lee Smith's "The Plot Against the President" detailing how Devin Nunes blew the lid off the FISA abuse and Clinton's role in the dossier. He and Kash Patel did a fantastic job, and it has caused I think irreparable damage to the anti-Trump cabal. The IG report essentially confirms everything in the book, but I haven't gotten beyond the executive summary yet. I've just started Gregg Jarret's "Witch Hunt." I didn't bother with the first book, because I knew there was more coming out and he didn't have a lot more information than I had at that point. At this point, it does help having people piece together timelines over several years. I've bought but haven't gone through Kimberly Strassel's "Resistance". 2020 is going to be more interesting and hard hitting than 2016. Trump has the double advantage of incumbency but still being able to run as an outsider attacking Washington.

Comey refuses to apologize to President Trump for being wrong. That is because he knew the FBI was abusing it's power to spy on the Trump campaign and Comey was the head of it and will not take responsibility.

I said she has sources inside Justice, I did not say she talked to Durham...

You only see that level of naivete in 1970s porn. 'You mean I have to take my clothes off to save the world?'

Newsflash, there are different types of insiders. What's the most expensive thing Trump has done? It's the tax cut for the rich.

Calling F.B.I. professionals “scum,” as the president did, is a slur against people who risk their lives to keep us safe. Mr. Barr’s charges of bias within the F.B.I., made without providing any evidence (a hallmark of Obese Donald's monarchy) and in direct dispute of the findings of the nonpartisan inspector general, risk inflicting enduring damage on this critically important institution.

The country can ill afford to have a chief law enforcement officer (Barr) dispute the Justice Department’s own independent inspector general’s report and claim that an F.B.I. investigation was based on “a completely bogus narrative.” In fact, the report conclusively found that the evidence to initiate the Russia investigation was unassailable. There were more than 100 contacts between members of the Trump campaign and Russian agents during the 2016 campaign, and Russian efforts to undermine our democracy continue to this day. I’m glad the F.B.I. took the threat seriously. It is important, Mr. Wray said last week, that the inspector general found that “the investigation was opened with appropriate predication and authorization.”

How did we get to the point where Russia is our friend and the FBI is our enemy?

To be fair, most people (not necessarily governments) outside America do see the FBI as their enemy. I will not find it surprising if there are quite a number of American citizens see the FBI as something similar to a conspiracy execution organisation.

Whatever. Poor people are generally stupid. If they think high taxes are helping them, they are more or less paying the price for being stupid. I kind of think it's cruel what the political left does to poor people, but I'm not super inclined to go out and fight for people who hate me.

Yeah. Comey is like super awesome and we all owe our freedoms to James Comey. He said himself that he doesn't do weasel moves.

We've only had the FBI since 1935. It might be time to get rid of this horrible institution and replace it with something else.

The IG reports to Barr. Barr can dispute whatever he wants.

No it didn't.

The FBI did not provide any defensive briefing to the Trump campaign, which they provided to everyone else. They put their own spies into the Trump campaign and tried to get the Trump campaign to interact with Russians. Their efforts failed.

With all due respect my friend Comey refused to reinstate his security clearance. To say the reports conclusively found, is far from true.

Barr: Comey refusal to reinstate security clearance a 'problem' in FISA investigation

Attorney General William Barr said a "problem" in the Justice Department watchdog report on the Russia investigation stems from fired FBI Director James Comey’s refusal to have his security clearance temporarily reinstated.

The former FBI chief, who claimed Inspector General Michael Horowitz's assessment provided him vindication, was brought up by Barr during an interview Tuesday with NBC News' Pete Williams.

Brushing off Horowitz's determination that the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign was properly predicated, Barr said U.S. Attorney John Durham would need to finish his investigation before any final conclusions are made about the motivations behind the inquiry.

Noting the limits inherent in an inspector general review, including jurisdiction and inability to compel testimony, Barr pointed to Comey as an example where Horowitz's report fell short.

“Durham is not limited to the FBI. He can talk to other agencies. He can compel people to testify,” Barr said. “One of the problems in the IG’s investigation, I think he would agree, is that Comey refused to sign back up for his security clearance and therefore couldn't be questioned about classified matters. So, someone like Durham can compel testimony, he can talk to a whole range of people, private parties, foreign governments, and so forth.”

In his report, Horowitz said Comey was one of a number of former FBI employees who “chose not to request that their security clearances be reinstated for their [inspector general] interviews” and “therefore, we were unable to provide classified information or documents to them during their interviews to develop their testimony, or to assist their recollections of relevant events.”

The focus of Horowitz's investigation was into allegations of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse against onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. Horowitz found errors and omissions were made in the process but did not establish that political bias tainted officials' actions throughout the Russia investigation.

Comey was fired by President Trump in May 2017, but there has been some murkiness surrounding Comey's security clearance.

In the summer of 2018, the White House listed Comey among former officials Trump considered relieving of their security clearances. But Comey's friend, Lawfare editor-in-chief Benjamin Wittes, tweeted out that he asked Comey if he still had a clearance to revoke, and the former FBI director said "Nope."

Comey took a victory lap on Twitter following the release of Monday’s report, saying, “So it was all lies. No treason. No spying on the campaign. No tapping Trump's wires. It was just good people trying to protect America.”

But in Barr’s view, Comey's decision, which limited what he could be asked, meant a full account of the FBI’s actions still had not been discovered.

Barr explained his divergence with the DOJ watchdog by pointing out Horowitz, as inspector general, “starts with limited information” and “can only talk to people who are essentially there as employees” and “he's limited to the information generally in the FBI.”

Barr said Horowitz’s approach was “a very deferential standard” of accepting people at their word “as long as there's not contradictory testimonial or documentary evidence,” and so, therefore, in his view, Horowitz hadn’t fully decided the issue of whether there were any improper motivations.

“I think, right now, it would be premature to make any judgment, one way or the other," Barr said.

NSA whistleblower Bill Binney wrote:I basically have always been saying that all of this Russian hack never happened, but we have some more evidence coming out recently.

We haven’t published it yet, but what we have seen is that there are at least five items that we’ve found that were produced by Guccifer 2.0 back on June 15th, where they had the Russian fingerprints in them, suggesting the Russians made the hack. Well, we found the same five items published by Wikileaks in the Podesta emails.

Those items do not have the Russian fingerprints, which directly implies that Guccifer 2.0 was inserting these into the files to make it look like the Russians did this hack. Taking that into account with all the other evidence we have; like the download speeds from Guccifer 2.0 were too fast, and they couldn’t be managed by the web.

And that the files he was putting together and saying that he actually hacked, the two files he said he had were really one file, and he was playing with the data; moving it to two different files to claim two hacks.

Taking that into account with the fabrication of the Russian fingerprints, it leads us back to inferring that in fact the marble framework out of the Vault 7 compromise of CIA hacking routines was a possible user in this case.

In other words, it looked like the CIA did this, and that it was a matter of the CIA making it look like the Russians were doing the hack. So, when you look at that and also look at the DNC emails that were published by Wikileaks that have this phat file format in them, all 35,813 of these emails have rounded off times to the nearest even second.

That’s a phat file format property; that argues that those files were, in fact, downloaded to a thumb drive or CD-rom and physically transported before Wikileaks posted them. Which again argues that it wasn’t a hack.

So, all of the evidence we’re finding is clearly evidence that the Russians were not in fact hacking; it was probably our own people. It’s very hard for us to get this kind of information out. The mainstream media won’t cover it; none of them will. It’s very hard. We get some bloggers to do that and some radio shows.

Also, I put all of this into a sworn affidavit in the Roger Stone case. I did that because all of the attack on him was predicated on him being connected with this Russian hack which was false to being with.

All the evidence we’re accumulating clearly says and implies, the US government — namely the FBI, CIA, the DOJ, and of course State Department — all these people involved in this hack, bought a dossier and all of the information going forward to the FISA court.

All of them knew that this was a fake from the very beginning, because this Guccifer 2.0 character was fabricating it. They were using him plus the Internet Research Agency [IRA] as “supposed trolls of the Russian government”.

Well, when they sent their lawyers over to challenge that in a court of law, the government failed to prove they had any connection with the Russian government.

They basically were chastised by the judge for fabricating a charge against this company. So, if you take the IRA and the trolls away from that argument, and Guccifer 2.0, then the entire Mueller report is a provable fabrication; because it’s based on Guccifer 2.0 and the IRA.

Then the entire Rosenstein indictment is also a fabrication and a fake and a fraud for the same reasons. The judges seem to be involved in trying to keep this information out of the public domain.

So, we have a really extensive shadow government here at work, trying to keep the understanding and knowledge of what’s really happening away from the public of the United States. That’s the really bad part. And the mainstream media is a participant in this; they’re culpable.

This is a developing story …… perhaps the one I have been waiting for.

An insider has come forward with a stack of bank documents that may prove Trump’s loans from Deutsche Bank were backed by Putin.

A new report released by Forensic News suggests that the loans the German bank approved were underwritten by VTB Bank—a Russian state-owned financial institution.

If true > VTB underwrote most or all of Trumps Deutsche Bank loans - 2 Billion Dollars - it means Russia has owned Trump lock, stock, barrel since before 2016 election. Means Trump backed by sanctioned entity.

I wonder why Impeached President Trump wants his bank/tax records to be top secret :hmm:?

The Deutsche bank’s relationship with Trump extended well beyond making simple loans. Deutsche Bank managed tens of millions of dollars of Trump’s personal assets. The bank also furnished him with other services that have not previously been reported: providing sophisticated financial instruments that shielded him from risks and outside scrutiny, and making introductions to wealthy Russians who were interested in investing in Western real estate. If Trump cheated on his taxes, Deutsche Bank would probably know. If his net worth is measured in millions, not billions, Deutsche Bank would probably know. If he secretly got money from the Kremlin, Deutsche Bank would probably know.

One recruit by the Deutsche Bank was Justin Kennedy, a son of the Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy.

Trump delivered his first address to a joint session of Congress. After stepping down from the lectern, Trump shook hands with the dignitaries in the audience. In the front row were the Supreme Court justices.

Trump moved down the line until he got to Anthony Kennedy. As Trump pumped the justice’s hand, Kennedy congratulated him on a successful speech. “Very nice, thank you,” Trump replied. “Say hello to your boy,” he added, patting the justice’s arm. “Special guy.”

Don The Con's case gagging the Deutsche Bank's records of their dealings with Donald comes before the Supreme Court this Summer. This is how it works kids.

How about 1998 when Russia tried to support freedom and democracy in North Kosovo while Western Islamophile governments supported Muslim tyranny over the Christian Serb majority. Lets also remember that Russia was supporting and keeping alive the Northern Alliance prior to 9/11. Russia has been a friend of the good for sometime now. Of course those who believe that western foreign policy should be run for the overriding benefit of Israel are going to disagree. I'm fine with supporting Israel, but not to the exclusion of everything else, not to the exclusion of standing up to Han expansionist imperialism and the Muslim terror states of Saudi, Pakistan, Turkey and Bahrain.

This is not the Russia of 1914, when an aggressive expansionist Russia, that was quite willing to sell out its fellow slav nations in its desire to claim the straits, was supporting Serb terrorism in Bosnia, the majority of Bosnia's populace not wanting to join Serbian in 1914. It is also not the Soviet Union. There is now an independent Finland, Poland and the Baltic states. Russia's territorial interests against Ukraine are quite legitimate. Khrushchev was a terrorist and his transfer of Crimea to Ukraine should not be recognised. Russian majority areas in Ukraine have the right to self determination. Russia has a reasonable right to demand a land bridge to Crimea.
