My family lost power some hours ago. They're doing fine, but they're a little worried about a particular tree in the neighbors yard. If it falls, it might hit the house.

The downtown flooding was expected, that's storm surge, that's not due to the rain fall (Houston's problem). The storm surge forecast was cut in half too, so that's good.

Don't get me wrong, it's dangerous and scary, but the media is blowing it up a bit more.

Anyway, my family is ok so far. Miami is nearly out of the worst of it.

Wait though, the stories of people going out after the storm and getting electrocuted will start next.

Winds are getting pretty strong. Still around pretty normal storm strength for around here but my areas finally at the point where it's going to get consistently worse.

My parents are reporting that they have a downed power line in their back yard. They also are without power. Other than that no damage, injury, or loss of life in the family.
