But privately, Senate Republican aides said the deal registered as a rebuke, following a stormy summer in which Senate Republicans failed (on purpose ) to repeal the Affordable Care Act and chastised Mr. Trump for his remarks equating white nationalists with counterprotesters in Charlottesville, Va. Mr. Trump, who later condemned white supremacists, continued the feuding in a series of tweets attacking GOP senators.

In both cases, the Congressional Republicans were totally in the wrong. They campaigned for 7 years to repeal ObamaCare, and once they had the power to do it, many changed their votes. They are liars and deserve what's coming to them. Trump equated Antifa with neo-Nazis, which at this point is unfair to the neo-Nazis who haven't been anywhere near as violent as Antifa. The Republican establishment's defense of communism was unserious, and they're astonishement that Trump is now working with the party with marginal ties to communists is something they have to suck up due to their defense of Antifa over neo-Nazis, instead of siding with Trump in condemning them both.

Great job on president Trump's part.

This is one of those rare occasions Trump has been presidential and done something positive for the nation.

Trump equated Antifa with neo-Nazis, which at this point is unfair to the neo-Nazis who haven't been anywhere near as violent as Antifa.

Neo-Nazis initiated the violence on the first night of the (canceled) demonstrations by surrounding, 10 to 1, a group of college students at the statue of Robert E. Lee and then attacked them with pepper spray. A neo-Nazi was filmed shooting at people. A neo-Nazi killed someone with his car and wounded dozens of others, some critically. Neo-Nazis planned to use violence in advance of their demonstration and discussed how to murder people and claim self-defense. The number of people Antifa shot at, or killed: 0.

To be fair, for decades the GOP has poo-poo'd healthcare, esp single payer. People foolishly believed it. But after years of international Internet chitchat and sheer desperation with your profit driven system, people grew more receptive. And now they've had a taste of it, flaws and all, they prefer Obamacare to Oh!Profit!care. So, either senators vote for the party or for their constituents. I agree the GOP deserve what their about to receive, but I don't think we're thinking the same reasons why

GOP wanted to use the revenue neutral clause to generate their tax cuts through repealing ACA. As expected, their totally ineffectual regressive leadership were unable to achieve anything and they are now rapidly on the way to total obsolescence.
