redcarpet wrote:If Franken should go then Trump should go. 20 women have come forward to accuse Trump of varying levels of sexual harassment, from rape to inappropriate touching. Why are the standards different for Democrats and Republicans?

Franken first tried to say she remembered it wrong until the photo was revealed with his hands at her breast. Then he was forced to claim he intended it as a joke and was sorry and apologized. What else could he do and save face?

No photo of Trump ever came up that showed any of the allegations against him. And what he said on the bus did not match his actual actions when he got off the bus and met the beautiful actress. He considered his talk as locker room type talk meant to entertain and keep the reporter laughing, and the reporter was laughing. Mission accomplished.

This is behavior that is part of a bourgeois society that makes human beings into commodities to be used. That is the actual root of the problem.

Obviously this is never addressed as it is better for the elite to watch the plebes throw shit at each other and howl in feigned rage. Frankin, like all bourgeois enforcers should be utterly condemned.

At the same time, trying to get more upset than the alleged victim who has accepted an apology and urged everyone on is such blatant political pandering as it can scarcely be believed.

If you’re of going to address the root of the issue, the alienation that occurs as a result of capitalism, everyone is just condemning themselves into another version of the, “please let the mass shooter be ethnicity x” game.

Ya, so?

Al Franken repeatedly asked a lady to rehearse a scene involving a kiss, and, by her own testimony, she agreed to get him to shut up about it. He played out the scene, including the agreed-to kiss. Where's the problem? His inability to read her mind?

Guys kiss girls, or in this case a grown woman, without a written invitation all the time. It's not the end of the world.

The problem was she thought they were not really going to kiss, but she would turn her head and that would be the joke. But he grabbed the back of her head and forced his disgusting tongue into her mouth. She said she wanted to hit him, but just warmed him to never do that again. On stage she did turn her head and the troops laughed. And later while they were signing autographs, he often didn't have anyone in his line and would draw horns on her picture while he was sitting beside her as if to say she was a devil. Then came the photo while she was sleeping to humiliate her even more.

You have to understand that people like Hindsite do not care what men do to women. Remember that women are to be submissive in all things. To believe otherwise is un Biblical.

wonder if Al ever played out his fantasy

'When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her': Playboy model groper Senator Al Franken had pitched SNL skit about drugging and raping 60 Minutes reporter Leslie Stahl in 1995

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... Stahl.html

LOL Franken writes an article for Playboy magazine called Pornaroma

Supposedly apologizes for it when he was running for senate in 2000 and in 2008 admits his apology wasn't real it was only to gain votes.

Sooooo, it is about his inability to read her mind. Gotya.

It was tacky. It wasn't illegal. But until our society changes, it will continue, both the tacky but legal and the illegal stuff

There's a popular show on TV, The Big Bang Theory. In one episode, Sheldon is entertaining a bunch of friends including Zack, one of Penny's ex boyfriends who tells a story of being in a hot tub with a drunk girl, and nailing her. Big canned laughter. This is rape, but no one caught it, I presume. That's our society.

Typical Hollywood.

Franken is playing a Br'er Rabbit ploy and with his calls for an ethics investigation is no different than Bre'er Rabbit being asked to be thrown in the briar patch. He knows there is likely going to be no ethics investigation and there's nothing to even investigate.

And there shouldn't be an investigation because even I think that this is ridiculous, and the only reason it matters is because Franken's hypocrisy has been laid bare.

If we have honest elections and there is even a halfway credible incumbent, the state will vote Franken out anyways.

I agree. Sexual harassment may be important, but in this case it seems to be a side issue brought into the political campaign in an attempt to distract from the more important issues the nation faces as a whole.

And then there's sexual assault like the stuff Trump admits to at length on that tape. Of these guys, Franken and Trump, it's Trump who should be imprisoned. Well, there's always Russia.

He's a Republican, these are partisan hacks that don't care unless a Democrat is accused of it.

Trump did not admit to a sexual assault. He said what he said on the bus was just locker room talk to entertain the male reporter. His actions on getting off the bus proved that was true because he did not try to kiss the beautiful actress. On the bus he was claiming he couldn't help kissing them. Trump did admit he shouldn't have said those things and apologized to his wife. I was satisfied with his explanation and apparently his wife was too. Praise the Lord.

Was it a distraction to bring up Bill Clinton and his women accusers in last year's election campaign?

Some people call it meeting fire with fire.

Yeah it is partisan, but the Democrats set the new standard and tried to come off as the moralists when they made a huge deal about the war on women and the Trump pussy tape.

Despite having written jokes about drugging and raping women, just like Bill Cosby, his public person is of a down home midwestern good guy. Having come from a down home Midwestern family myself, I could relate to Sen. Franken, and I was a big fan of his for a bit.

Franken is a low-key scumbag; just slightly less scummy than Bob Sagat. However, since he had his radio show in the early 2000's and in his time in Congress, he had re-invented himself (see OP) as one of the good guys.

This guy has always been very open about being a womanizer. Trump has ALWAYS been a loudmouth blowhard, and people who voted for him never expected him to be a moralist like Franken. It's too late now, but President Trump should have never have criticized Fraken because now he has positioned himself as moralist or sorts.

Franken acting inappropriately with an adult women is not the same as a grown man fiddling with children. There is no comparison.

Franken apologized and the women he wronged accepted the apology. You cannot be more offended than the victim. if you are, then you're being unreasonable.

Franken called for an ethics investigation into his behavior. He's fully accepting responsibility for fucking up.

Did he fuck up? Most certainly. It's not the same as the Roy Moore case by a longshot, however.

Republicans/Conservatives have a problem with "false equivalency".

No one is defending Kevin Spacey, Weinstein, Bill Clinton, or any other person who is being accused of sexual misconduct, etc. Democrats are not doing what the republicans are doing.
