Russian response to American fighters
The active development of aviation today is one of the fundamental tasks facing the Russian Ministry of Defense. The effective work of The Russian Aero-Cosmic Forces in Syria not only predetermined the outcome of the war, but it did so with minimal losses. This was made possible with new and modernized technology.
In December 2017, a real breakthrough occurred in the Russian aircraft industry: domestic engineers succeeded in creating a new second-stage engine for the Su-57 fighter, also known under the symbol "Type-30". In December 5, 2017, Russian fighter of the fifth generation of the Su-57 (T-50) successfully passed the test flight with a new engine.
A successful test of the engine proves that Russian aviation will soon be replenished with fifth-generation supersonic aircraft. Now Russia can compete with the United States, especially with the fifth-generation American fighters F-22 Raptor and F-35A / B. Indeed, the creation of the second-stage engine for the Su-57 fighter brings Russian aircraft to a qualitatively new level. The subsonic speed, which was available to fighters earlier remains in the past. The possibility of switching to supersonic without afterburning significantly expanded the combat capabilities of the aircraft. The design of the engine has been optimized due to the reduction in the number of units of dimensions in the recalculation of traction. The increased reliability of the fighter is provided by the built-in diagnostic system. In addition, the new engine reduces the visibility of the fighter in different ranges.
The manufacture of a new engine is kept in the strictest secrecy. It is known that new technologies were used in its production. Thus, the cermet blades of the engine turbine are made of heat-resistant alloys and have a complex construction, as well as a special casting technology. In addition, the oxygen-free start of the engine at high altitudes is carried out by the plasma afterburner, which greatly improves the survival of the fighter.
Thus, the creation of a new engine is a major breakthrough in modern aircraft construction. Undoubtedly, further trials are on the way, but it is now safe to say that the fifth generation fighters will go into the arsenal of the Russian military security services soon. The beginning of supplies is scheduled for 2019.
