She makes a good point that I've heard in other places; only 12 out of 35,000 FISA requests have been rejected and those making this request still felt a need to withhold key information from a judge. Sad!

Russian Scandal: The Fusion GPS mess just keeps getting messier. New court filings show that the opposition research firm that the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee hired to dig up dirt on Donald Trump also paid at least three journalists. For what? Was it part of a Democratic plan to spread fake news about Trump?

The Washington Examiner reports that Fusion GPS paid three journalists between June 2016 and February 2017. It came in an affidavit filed by Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch, who noted that the House Intelligence Committee had sought information "related to transactions between Fusion GPS and certain journalists.
Fritsch asserted that the payments in question "are not pertinent to work related to Russia or Donald Trump." Sounds clear cut. But the Examiner's Todd Shepard notes that "One of the documents filed by lawyers for the House Intelligence Committee said each of the three reporters who received payments had written about the Russia probe, which could indicate that reporters were using Fusion GPS's work to write their stories."

That would seriously undermine Fritsch's assertion. Moreover, in another filing, the lawyers maintained that Fusion GPS "brokered meetings for (Trump) dossier author Christopher Steele with at least five major media outlets in September 2016, including Yahoo news."

Did Fusion GPS intentionally mislead Congress? It seems like a real possibility.

Meanwhile, as has previously been reported, neither the FBI nor the Justice Department have been able to "verify or corroborate" the allegations of collusion between Russia and Trump that came from the Trump dossier.

More and more, it looks like a giant setup, intended to trap then-candidate Donald Trump into implicating himself in a plot to undermine the U.S. election. But it was Clinton and her bought-and-paid-for lackeys in the DNC who were in fact colluding with Russian officials.

Daily Caller investigative reporter Chuck Ross reports that the U.S. law firm BakerHostetler paid Fusion GPS $523,651 from March 2016 to October 2016 to investigate Bill Browder, a London-based banker who was behind the passage of the Magnitsky Act, a set of U.S. sanctions that the Russian government strongly opposed.

And who paid BakerHostetler to make that payment to Fusion GPS? Russian businessman Denis Katsyv, through his company, Prevezon Holdings. Indeed, it turns out that Fusion founding partner and former Wall Street Journal reporter Glenn Simpson compiled the information for Katsyv.

This is yet another Russian link to Fusion GPS. The man whom Fusion paid to concoct the Trump Dossier, former British spy Christopher Steele, interviewed a number of Russian officials for his Trump research, and was paid $168,000 for his work by Fusion.

The picture emerges of Fusion, the Democrats and the Russians colluding to eliminate a wild-card politician that could be trouble for all of them.

Moreover, in a separate transaction, the Seattle-based law firm Perkins Coie paid out some $1,024, 408 between May 2016 and the end of that year, the records show. The biggest check was $365,275 made on Oct. 28, 2016, just days before the election.

And who was Perkins Coie? The attorneys for both the Clinton campaign and the DNC.

Again, the point is, the fingerprints of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party and Russian officials are all over the infamous Trump Dossier. But, as of yet, there has been no actionable evidence of actual ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

More and more, as we said, this looks like a classic setup — a rather clumsy one, until you consider that Hillary Clinton and the Democrats were pretty sure she was going to win. All of this would have simply been swept under the rug by deep-state bureaucrats in the Justice Dept. and at the FBI on behalf of President Hillary Clinton.

Based on this, we'll reverse the logic that the left has employed against Trump now for well over a year: If it turns out that the Clinton campaign and DNC not only funded Fusion GPS but also directly or indirectly colluded with Russian officials to subvert an American presidential election, they will be liable for criminal charges — and possibly jail time.

As for the three journalists we mentioned above, if they used this information as the basis of their Russia reporting, it will turn out to be a scandal from which U.S. journalism will have trouble recovering. The media is already held in such low repute by the public that it's hard to think it can go lower. But it can.

They didn't just withhold key information, they knowingly presented fraudulent evidence. It doesn't matter if they didn't need the dossier, they defrauded the court. If some regular schmo defrauds the court they bury him under the jail, these fuckers not only defrauded the court but abused the trust of their institution to do it. Not making an example of these rogues sets a very dangerous precedent.

What garbage.

Today Nunes admitted on Faux News that the memo contained deliberate lies.

Of course today we find out that the president's lawyers don't want him to answer questions. He has claimed all along that he wanted the opportunity to testify. What are they afraid of. There was no collusion. Right? Why not just go in and tell the truth to Mueller and let this all go?

The absolutely stupid Trump supporters refuse to see what is right before their faces. I have yet to meet a reasonably intelligent Trump supporter. And I attend Republican party meetings. The utter stupidity of his supporters is astounding.

Lies such as what? You're never specific, lately. Almost like you're just trying to muddy the waters at this point.

New allegations include that one of Steele's sources for his dossier was the Obama state department. This would pretty much complete the loop. They're also pointing out that Carter Page worked for the FBI before he joined Trump's campaign and was used to help justify wiretapping the campaign. The Senate has created a criminal referral for Steele.

I posted this in the other thread too..

The Democratic rebuttal has been voted for release as well. Most likely to shut up dumb democratic critics accusing of bias.

Donald Trump has the right to refuse to release it and I believe he should exercise that right. The Democratic Party should have been forced to use the media to prosecute their side like is mostly normal. My opinion is the Whitehouse should block this release and issue a press release outlining whatever issues they have with the Democratic rebuttal memo. But I don't think Trump will. I think he will let it out as well and get the investigation into this disgusting situation going.

But yeah at least we're going to see it too. Now you can't claim bias guys, so stop doing it.

The Democrats are clearly biased against Trump. The FBI also had some biased actors too that want Trump impeached just like Maxine Waters D-CA.
And as Trump pointed out, little Schiff D-CA is a liar on top of that. And we have Pelosi D-CA. What's up with all these biased California representatives. They should move to Mexico.

The FBI wants criminals arrested. That's all.

Look at this quote. It is really fun. First we have the usual childish Trump personal insult, parroted by Fox News, parroted again by our resident troll. "little Schiff". Very childish indeed. I can understand Trump doing it. It is the height of his rhetorical abilities. For you to do it Hindsite? I guess it is the height of your ability too. Sad. Then you go on to make a not so veiled racist comment. Very nice. Politically stupid for Trump supporters to do this but then, as a group, they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

It's very clear too. The FBI suspended Steele when they learned he had met with the press; then, terminated him as a source. Yet, the FBI did not update FISC with their findings. Instead, they continued to seek FISA warrants; and, the last one to do it was Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller as a special prosecutor and not specifying the crime committed to investigate.

Drlee wrote:Today Nunes admitted on Faux News that the memo contained deliberate lies.

Which lies? Enumerate them.

Drlee wrote:Of course today we find out that the president's lawyers don't want him to answer questions.

Well, it seems he has good lawyers. A junior lawyer would not let a person testify under oath if they are not required do testify. That would be malpractice.

Drlee wrote:He has claimed all along that he wanted the opportunity to testify.

I'm sure he does. He should just do a televised interview. That will not satisfy the Democrats, but will continue to shed light on their tactics.

Drlee wrote:What are they afraid of. There was no collusion. Right?

There was collusion with the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign and Russian sources to influence the election. We know this is the case now. However, collusion by itself is not a crime. Mueller has been focused on Trump, but all the evidence points to Hillary Clinton and Russia. Where the law breaking takes place is that the FBI used the dossier in a FISA application when they knew it was unveried and likely materially false, withheld the fact that it was a Hillary Clinton campaign product, used news stories manufactured by Hillary Clinton's contractors--Fusion GPS directed Steele to meet off the record with the press--to corroborate the memo, and did not further inform the FISC or Congress when they learned that the sources in the news stories was the very Clinton campaign operative that wrote the dossier.

Drlee wrote:Why not just go in and tell the truth to Mueller and let this all go?

Collusion is not a crime, so there is no requirement to testify under oath. Mueller has already threatened charges and gotten some plea deals based on essentially immaterial lies or non-truths. So we know Mueller wants to play hard ball. Trump is playing hard ball too. Why isn't Mueller, who has complete independence shown any interest in what the FBI and Hillary Clinton campaign did? Is it because he staffed his investigation with the likes of Peter Strzok, Bruch Ohr and many Hillary Clinton campaign donors? Mueller is running out of options.

Drlee wrote:The absolutely stupid Trump supporters refuse to see what is right before their faces.

Oh, I see it as clear as day. I see why the a Hillary supporter proposed a meeting between Veselnitskaya and Trump Jr. I see how Veselnitskaya got into the United States. I see how Veselnitskaya met with Fusion GPS before and after her meeting with Trump Jr. We're looking very closely at all of this.

Drlee wrote:I have yet to meet a reasonably intelligent Trump supporter.

Yet, you yourself said if he would only listen to you that you could show him how to win. It's too bad he's not president of the United States, right? He would be POTUS if only he had listened to you.

Hong Wu wrote:New allegations include that one of Steele's sources for his dossier was the Obama state department.

The Graham-Grassley memo needs to be declassified now, because Rosenstein once again is only preventing the public from learning what Comey testified to and who the people are in the memo. We know from their freak out over the Nunes memo that the sky was going to fall, and then it became a nothing burger.

"Waiter! I'd like another nothing burger please! The last one was delicious. My compliments to the chef."

Hong Wu wrote:The Senate has created a criminal referral for Steele.

Well, specifically Graham and Grassley. The interesting thing is that Graham is usually part of the #NeverTrump folks. That's a break with his usual partner in shenanigans, John McCain--who sent someone to meet with Steele, retrieve a copy of the memo, and then present the dossier directly to Comey himself.

colliric wrote:Donald Trump has the right to refuse to release it and I believe he should exercise that right.

I think he should release it AND completely declassify the Grassley-Gramm memo too, so that we can see how they are using classification to prevent the discovery of the criminal activity and not to protect the United States.

I think Drlee writes some funny things sometimes and I manage to restrain myself from going after him for every single one. I do want to say though that the term "reasonably intelligent" is something I find kind of amusing. He's basically conceding that there are intelligent Trump supporters, which is better than the hur dur drumpf supporters are stupid thing, yet he still seems to have found a way to insult the intelligence of people he's basically conceded are intelligent. Unless I am misunderstanding his use of the word reasonably, I guess.

You are correct that I am one of the more intelligent of the deplorables. However, I have to tailor my rhetorical abilities so that all on PoFo might be able to understand. Praise the Lord.

He does really take the IQ thing a bit too seriously. I had an amusing experience today. A filed a usability bug a few months ago. I checked up on it today, and it hasn't been addressed yet. A mensa guy commented on the bug and thanked me for filing it and saving future users from the anguish he's suffering.

The thing though is that if you've ever worked with Russians, you'd know the Russian dossier is bullshit straight away. I'm sure those guys were lapping up the cash from Steele, drinking vodka and coming up with all kinds of crazy stories for Steele. The pee pee scene gave the whole thing away, which is why he never should have included that if he wanted to be believed. The thing is, whoever these Russians were, they had to be laughing their asses off at Steele.

In my imagination, it would have gone down something like this:

Some Drunk Russian Taking Steele's Money wrote:Hey Steele... Do you know Stalin had very same last name? Wow! Maybe you are related? Haha. Anyway... seriously. I am the real man with important job in Kremlin. I am administrator. Do you know what is administrator? It's really important guy. I am going hunting and fishing with Putin all the time. I heard some story that the Donald Trump come on Moscow many year ago. He is not liking Obama. So he rent hotel room where Obama sleep with wife. Then, he is hire two monkey. A boy monkey and a girl monkey. Then, he is try to make boy monkey have sex on bed with girl monkey where Obama and wife slept before. He is make porno of monkey. Then, he is try make monkey wear mask that is looking like Obama and try make monkey have the sex again. Really! It's true story! I can show you picture of two monkey on very same bed. The Trump is really not liking the Obama.

I can't believe anybody actually fell for this shit. It has no more credibility than those jokers who called up Adam Schiff. Yet, he fell hook line and sinker for this. Impersonating a Russian having dirt on an opponent is going to be a comedic gag for the next 20 years.

Hindsite wrote:Except for the criminals within their own organization.

Yeah. It's a good thing for them that stupidity isn't a crime.

I think nobody can predict what will happen.
We don't have all the information and we don't know what Mueller will come up with or how the House and Senate will react.
And then we have the known unknowns : Trump can stroke out, get a heart attack, who knows? Or he can finish his term.
I intend to sit here and watch the show from day to day.

It's blowing up in your face right now. The collusion story has completely collapsed and serious deep state malfeasance has been exposed. You can't save face by just pretending it's not happening, that only makes you seem more ridiculous.
