63% of Americans can’t cover a $500 emergency. Use that to determine how many would consider a $27 donation nothing.

Maybe they don't have savings because they donate too much.

Seriously, they don't have savings because they don't save, not because they couldn't.

@One Degree maybe you should have voted for a POTUS who would put $27 in your pocket instead of into the pockets of the rich. What happened to that huge tax cut that was going to put all that money in your pockets. Surely that was more than $27, right? You have no excuse not to have $27, since Trump made you wealthy with that tax cut.

Top Democrat Linda Sanchez says it's time for 'generational change' in dig at Nancy Pelosi
I find that refreshing. Pelosi was only too happy when Loretta Sanchez unseated B1 Bob Dornan. Now that the up-and-coming Hispanic politicians are kicking out the old guard, it seems that Pelosi and her ilk don't see that "spark of divinity" in the upstarts that they find in MS-13 gang members.

Feinstein is facing the same issue: DIANNE FEINSTEIN DRAFTS HOUSE CANDIDATES IN EFFORT TO STAVE OFF PARTY ENDORSEMENT LOSS IN CALIFORNIA

That may be the thing to do for us erstwhile Republicans. I see no chance of the Republicans winning the Senate seat. It may be the thing to give Kevin DeLeon a boost. I think the Tea Partiers should vote for him just to help collapse the old guard--who should be happy that they have finally achieved the diversity they were looking for.

San Francisco has its first black female mayor now with London Breed.

Diversity is coming to fruition, I get a sense that the Democratic white elite are not really liking this.

They've been asking for it for awhile. I think their expectation was that minorities would vote for them, not take their seats in Congress. That's generally what needs to happen though. If Pelosi and Feinstein don't like it, perhaps it is because they are racists.

What appears to be happening is that the identity politics are backfiring for the established Democrats. I as well think that they were not really thinking ahead and did not predict that the minorities that they are protecting from the evil racist Republicans and "Nazis" will eventually begin to themselves go into power. I suspect as well they did not anticipate this. As they shortsightedly expected things will go forever without any consequences, where they will continue to proclaim to protect minorities and those minorities will vote for them. All the meanwhile claiming the higher moral ground of benevolent anti-racist humanitarians.

What I see happening in the future human nature will take its course and Democratic party will more become the party of non-European Americans run by "minorities". What we will see is balkanization of American politics. This had to happen eventually sooner or later with the way immigration has been conducted and new arrived immigrant not assimilating into the mainstream American society. In fact the Democratic progressive left did all it could not to assimilate them but preserve their identities.

This contorted and bizarre immigration policy is now bearing its effect. Where you have a woman openly socialist and self identified as Latino entering congress. Not only she fashions an ideology foreign to American established politics; the one they have spend battling for decades now around the world, but also she is not assimilated into American society and sees herself more Latino then American.

Yes, in a big way too. Diversity has never been a strength for any empire. It's the achilles heel. It is now the achilles heel of the Democratic party.

Well, they seem to be quite shocked that the primary base doesn't like Feinstein either. She is an ancient geezer now, so there is some merit to that. However, the Democratic party's only up-and-comer from my vantage point is Gavin Newson. Getty money is behind him, so I would not be surprised to see him at the top of the Democratic Party's ticket in 2024.

Yes. I think that's what is happening in California. Back squarely to the topic, here's something interesting on Ocasio-Cortez.

DEMS SLAM OCASIO-CORTEZ: HER SOCIALIST VISION ‘WOULD BANKRUPT THE COUNTRY’
This is InfoWars. Sometimes you have to take them with a grain of salt. Other times, they are a month ahead of the MSM.

“Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America, whose platform, like hers, is more Socialist than Democratic,” he [Joe Lieberman] wrote on Tuesday.

“Her dreams of new federal spending would bankrupt the country or require very large tax increases, including on the working class,” he continued.

“Her approach foresees government ownership of many private companies, which would decimate the economy and put millions out of work.”

Several other Democrats echoed Lieberman’s sentiment, with some asserting her attacks against the more moderate faction of the Democrat Party was not a wise strategy.

Ocasio-Cortez stumps for insurgent Democrats in the Midwest

Ocasio-Cortez starts controversy with comments on Israeli ‘occupation,’ admits she's 'not the expert'
What will Chuck Schumer do if he has to choose between the Democrats and Israel? The question begs for an answer with the rise of the party’s new “it” politician, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She’s the Democratic Socialist who toppled Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary in New York’s 14th Congressional District. She’s a nightmare for the Jewish state.

No one’s arguing Israel is the only, or even primary, issue before Congress. Nor is Schumer the only Democrat of the ilk whose more centrist policies are being challenged by Ocasio-Cortez.

Schumer, though, has spent a career presenting himself as Israel’s greatest defender. How’s Schumer going to protect that brand if Ocasio-Cortez wins in November?

Even the liberal Israeli daily Haaretz reports that Ocasio-Cortez “is seen as the embodiment of the Democrats shifting away from Israel.” It’s not hard to see why.

This is why I think it's great fun to push along Kevin de Leon in California. If it topples Diane Feinstein, the Israel lobby is going to realize that pushing diversity in the US will ultimtely result in apathy or antipathy toward Israel.

The next Ocasio-Cortez: will these candidates pull Democrats to the left?

Ocasio-Cortez is calling for the abolition of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, which ultimately means open borders. Meanwhile, Pelosi is calling to repeal the Trump tax cuts, which is primarily going to big businesses.
Faced with resistance from the party establishment, some on the left have called for a third party to be formed. In 2017, a group of activists launched a bid to “Draft Bernie for a People’s Party” which aimed to “channel the enthusiasm generated by the Sanders campaign into building a new political party”, although the move failed to catch on . That was a good thing, said Sam Rosenfeld, assistant professor of political science at Colgate University and author of The Polarizers: Postwar Architects of Our Partisan Era, because the best way for the left to change the Democratic party was from the inside.

It's an exciting time to not be a Democrat!

The Democrats are shifting away from Israel because of Netanyahu, and it's not hard to see why. American Jews, who are predominantly liberals, don't like Netanyahu much (which is mutual, hence Trump), as well as they're not really keen on Ocasio-Cortez and comrades I guess.

Trump has done a wonderful job of exposing the deep state and making a laughing stock of them around the world.

Indeed. That's what I like seeing--the establishment at war with itself.

Centrist Dems begin arguing against far-left agenda as 2020 play

Many of those in attendance were careful not to directly criticize Ocasio-Cortez, saying they welcomed the new energy she was bringing into the party. But they also made clear that they thought her style of politics would be a difficult sell outside of her New York City congressional district, where the party must try to win over more conservative voters.

Oh, but there is so much energy! She's Hispanic and a woman! We need new ideas!

Yeah. They intended for Trump to become president. This was all part of their secret master plan. They've fooled us all!  :muha1:

Maybe they didn't intend, but I can't see the Republican establishment oppose him that much and I think the Clintons were happy when he won the primaries.

You're always being fooled, but this one is really special! :excited:
