Ocasio-Cortez Proves She Has No Idea What Congress Does

Anyway, the latest is that she cannot afford the rent in DC until she starts getting her salary from Congress.

Ocasio-Cortez rips Fox News for mocking her personal finances, working-class people

Apparently, she's very upset about talking heads pointing that out.

Lets see what her net worth is in a couple years. :knife:

I am trying to understand. Democrats love their self proclaimed Socialist candidates, but they deny being Socialist or having ever been influenced by Socialist countries while promoting Socialist policies. Maybe they should decide who they are?

Evidence? I know of two or three. Can you list more?

Socialist policies? Hmmm.

The GI Bill of Rights -

Guaranteed annual wage - Proposed by Nixon

National Health care - proposed by Nixon

Universal Prescription Drug Act - Bush

Social Security supported by every republican

Corporate bailouts and subsidies - ever seen a republican party move to eliminate them?

Government paid snow removal - Do they move to stop this in red states?

I could go on and on. The republicans are every bit as "socialist" as the democrats. They only whine about it when they don't get credit.

It should rather be lowered that no one above 70 would be eligible to vote, that's what my father who's 71 says.

Finfinder wrote:@Drlee@Drlee While I don't disagree in principle, the Republicans at least make an effort to justify paying for them. Unlike Cortez who thinks the money fairy just magically appears and sprinkles it out of thin air.

That's how fiat money basically works, and lots of it is wasted...by Republicans mostly.

mostly ? LOL Cortez would tell you money is square (rectangle is a 3 syllable word so she wouldn't use it) and round and the tooth fairy makes it.

Drlee wrote:The GI Bill of Rights -

Not economic egalitarianism. It's compensation to veterans.

Drlee wrote:Guaranteed annual wage - Proposed by Nixon

Check. Nixon left office in disgrace.

Drlee wrote:National Health care - proposed by Nixon

More fascist than communist, but check.

Drlee wrote:Universal Prescription Drug Act - Bush

Not universal. It only applies to retirees. Fascist. Check.

Drlee wrote:Government paid snow removal - Do they move to stop this in red states?

Public service. Not economic egalitarianism. That's actually the type of thing the government is supposed to be doing.

Drlee wrote:Corporate bailouts and subsidies - ever seen a republican party move to eliminate them?

I have seen Tea Party republicans take down establishment Republicans with glee, only to have the establishment characterize the Tea Party as radical, extremist, racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc. You join in that chorus regularly. Trump's presidency is the American people voting "no confidence" in the establishment for non-stop fuck-ups for nearly 20 years. It has little to do with racism, etc.

Do you notice that most of the so-called right wing extremists here aren't lamenting the Republicans losing control of the House? They passed every budget extension under Obama from 2010 on. John Boehner and Paul Ryan quit, because they hated the job most politicians would kill to have. Why? Because their own people hate them as much as the Democrats do.

Beren wrote:Yes, money is wasted by the Pentagon mostly, by which Republicans are rarely or never bothered, and tax cuts are a waste of money too because that money shouldn't rather exist.

Tax cuts are not spending. That's just left wing semantics.

The point of the thread is that the Democrats have their own Tea Party, and they are far to the left. The corporate Democrats coddled the extreme left, which they actually hate and are now reaping what they sowed.

If fiat money is just printing money out of thin air, why is it that politicians can't do simple shit like pave the roads? Why can't they adopt the productivity increases seen by every business segment in the country except government, higher education and health care?

@Drlee While I don't disagree in principle, the Republicans at least make an effort to justify paying for them.

You mean like they are paying for Trump's tax cuts?

The republicans are big spenders. The party in power is always happy to spend. The last president to balance the budget was Clinton.
