It’ll only end up in front of a judge if someone sues, and so far it doesn’t seem that’s going to happen.

Oh it will happen.
It doesn't have to be democrats the ones to sue. It can be an independent citizen or concerned republicans. I bet those Bush-loving lincoln-project ones are salivating to go to court for this and prove they love the constitution  .
It won't get to the supreme court before November, but imagine if it did... watching both of Trump appointees rule against this obviously unconstitutional order  . I don't think his mental sanity would survive that  .

@Drlee, here’s the pro-police accounting of the scrum.

Pro-Police protesters clash with BLM demonstrators in Colorado

Counterprotesters got involved in a violent confrontation with pro-police supporters at a Back the Blue rally in Fort Collins, Colo. Saturday, which ended with the arrests of three people.

The pro-police attendees said two different groups of counterprotesters -- consisting of Black Lives Matter supporters and what appeared to be members of Antifa -- joined the event. They also claimed a faction from one of those two groups attacked a veteran who was in a wheelchair, according to The Collegian.

Clips featured on a rally goer's Instagram account showed an all-out melee of various protesters beating one another, as people screamed and cursed while they looked on.

Another attendee can be heard on the video saying, "Keep punching each other in the face but don't shoot anybody."

Ciara Wilson, a local high school student who filmed part of the fight, said there were no police to be found as opposing sides battered one another in the grassy ditch.

“Once they get all the way down the street from the police station, it just goes into an all-out brawl in the middle of a grassy pit,” she told The Collegian. “10 to 15 people just piled up on top of each other. Chokeholds, batons, punched in the face all of it, and there were no police.”

A Black Lives Matter rally had been held at Colorado State University earlier that day. Some of those rallygoers went on to the police station to start a counter-protest.

At first, it seemed to be a peaceful conversation between members of the two groups. Once the second group of anti-racism demonstrators --- dressed all in black and thought to be Antifa-- showed up, things escalated and turned violent.

Witnesses claimed the agitators dressed [in black] seemed to bait the pro-police protesters with verbal taunting.

FCPS Public Relations Manager Kate Kimble sent an email to The Collegian saying the “physical disturbances” near the station ended with three arrests and one citation.

The booking report showed two men and one woman were arrested for disorderly conduct. One of the men was also booked for allegedly possessing an illegal weapon, while another was hit with a resisting arrest charge.

"We respect everyone’s right to peacefully assemble to voice their concerns,' Kimble added. "For the safety of our community, acts of violence, destruction of property and other unlawful behavior will not be tolerated."

She said an investigation into the matter is "active and ongoing."

Julian658 wrote:The idea that these two systems are opposite and we all have to compromise between them is absurd. Instead of the current left vs right, a more reasonable and practical approach is a scale from authoritarian to anarchy, with Fascism and Communism at the same end of the scale, and the American constitutional system perhaps the furthest practical point toward the opposite end.

The US under Lincoln and FDR would strike me as more fascistic than Canada has ever been. I'm not saying that Canada is wonderful and the USA is terrible, but I just fail to see what terrible evils Canada has suffered that would have been prevented by the American Constitution. I mean neither Canada, Australia or New Zealand ever seem to have suffered anything like Sherman's march to the sea.

The US was blessed with oodles of land and England's superior culture, this meant it was born as yeomanry nation and that it when it industrialised it had higher wages than Europe. The US was also blessed with no serious hemispheric competitors. This mean it never felt compelled to take the road of National Socialist mobilisation. This allowed it to develop a huge economy, with secure supplies of primary resources, safe from occupation, blockade or strategic bombing. This meant when it did enter into the World Wars it was able to do so without really breaking sweat, with out the levels authoritarian, national socialist mobilisation compelled upon the European powers.

Fascism most certainly resembles Communism, because although loath to admit it, fascism and Nazism were in part modelled on Communism. Communism was totalitarian mobilisation in the cause of Marxist Theocracy. Fascism was, or at least attempted to be totalitarian mobilisation for the cause of nationalism.

A Republican party official source on Saturday stated that a White House aide reached out to Kristi Noem’s office with the question: “What’s the process to add additional presidents to Mount Rushmore?”

Yeah, can’t say I’m surprised that you avoided any facts that might make the pro-police side look better.

If you want a full-blown proto-fascist regime in the US, you can’t beat Woodrow Wilson’s wartime administration.

Pants-of-dog wrote:Pro-police = anti-libertarian

Wrong. Libertarians recognize that you can’t have a free society without a police force to control the thugs. Some libertarians have offered free market schemes for private security to fulfill the same role, but none of them have been practical and other libertarians recognize as much.

So right wing libertarians support cops when they kneel on a person’s neck for over eight minutes because “thugs”.

Meanwhile, real libertarians are advocating for defunding or abolishing the police.

Remember, we're talking about people whose brightest "thinkers" advocate the position that child labour laws are oppressive to children who want to enter the workforce, and who believe the Confederacy's only flaw was failing to control inflation. It's not reasonable to expect them to understand concepts like "the plain meanings of words".

United States Intelligence Services: China wants Trump to lose as Russia discredits Biden

Is this report suggesting that American voters are doomed either way? Overthrowing Trump serves Chinese interest while keeping him serves Russian interest?

If only Americans can stand up for themselves and write in, say, Sanders as president?

Lessee ……… I will be 1150 miles from where I am registered to vote on election day. Obese Donald is pumping up a few election scams including his main one that says vote by mail is a crime. So …… I guess I had better prepare for a 2300 mile round trip to vote to please the psychopath in the White House

Both camps are mostly fucking bootlickers. The defunders don't want to get rid of cops, they want to turn social workers into cops and get government minders up in every facet of everybody's life. They want an army of woketards enforcing social justice with full state authority:

activists have called for an unbundling of services. Under this model, many services that were previously provided by law enforcement would be provided by specialized response teams. These teams could include social workers, emergency medical technicians, conflict resolution specialists, restorative justice teams, and other community-based professionals.[67][68][69][70][71]

Fuck that. If that's the plan I'll stick with the devil I know.

Godstud wrote:I am talking about Socialist policies, not skin colour. Racist much?

So why always talk about white countries? You have two socialist countries much closer to you: North Korea and Myanmar. Why not mention them? Why not mention Zimbabwe? By the way, they aren't socialist policies. They are welfare state policies. Socialism is when the means of production render the benefits of the enterprise to the worker.

Godstud wrote:I am not talking about skin colour or eye colour. I am talking about Socialism.

You're talking about welfare benefits, not the means of production benefiting the workers.

Godstud wrote:For racists, it all comes down to that, doesn't it, @blackjack21?

No. It comes down to countries that purport to be socialist right in your neighborhood, and you don't mention them. You mention capitalist states with lavish welfare systems.

Godstud wrote:You ignore everything else, in an attempt to pretend you're NOT racist.

Where have I pretended I'm not racist? I would only challenge your utterly absurd stereotyping and inability to argue what I say rather than your constant strawman arguments.

Drlee wrote:Armed Trump supporters attacked and assaulted BLM protesters in Colorado.

You are declaring this with no evidence supporting your claim.

Drlee wrote:They were wearing all black and armed.

Oooh... scary.

Drlee wrote:This is how it starts.

How what starts?

jimjam wrote:Thank God for Democrats. Because of them I get in my old age a monthly Social Security check and medical care. From the Republicans I get predatory capitalism and ( ) trickle down tax cuts for billionaires.

Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country. Julian658 beat me to it.

XogGyux wrote: I don't think his mental sanity would survive that  .

Drlee wrote:Fox news. Did not bother to read it.

Figures. You know it's Antifa that usually dresses in black, right?

Pants-of-dog wrote:Meanwhile, real libertarians are advocating for defunding or abolishing the police.

Libertarians aren't anarchists.

Would you be for the privatization of Social Security? Allow the money to be invested as people with 401K plans do?

as I said, "money talks, bullshit ^ walks". You got your payoff from Obese Donald and know this well
No doubt your tax bonanza from Don The Con has trickled down by now as you "do for your country"

So Don The Con can privatize SS money right into the pockets of his billionaire buddies down at The Club like he has "privatized" the U.S. Treasury?

That sounds like a recipe for those hypothetical companies to make shiton of money while poorly managing "investments", give nice golden parachute to their executives just before declaring that they are in the brink of bankruptcy so that the government bails them out.
I don't think that there are many Americans that will trust that the company managing their "Social security fund" will be around 30 or 40 years in the future and will continue to be strong and solvent.
Not to mention... are you going to make it mandatory? If you don't do it mandatory you will have plenty of people "thinking" I am better off buying some bitcoin than letting some idiot in a suit manage my money... and we all know how well that will end.
There are plenty of shit that the private sector can do currently and in fact ar doing... why do you want even more interference.
None of this is to make you rich in retirement. The 1-2k/month most people get in retirement is already peanuts, especially if you don't alright own property outright (no mortgage) or don't have additional retirement savings in 401ks, IRAs, Roth accounts or Taxable accounts.
Social security is insurance. Insurance costs you money, it does not make you money. You don't invest insurance money.
