I don’t know where you’re getting your info, but so far as I know it is illegal in all fifty states to release exit polling and to call states until the polls in each state have closed—just such a mistake may well have almost given the state of Florida to Al Gore in 2000, when networks accidentally called the state for Gore while voting was still going on in the panhandle, and people hearing the news walked away from the polling stations (as I understand it, the Florida panhandle is one of the more conservative parts of the state). So whatever polling you’re getting, it isn’t exit polling.

That said, television networks have voluntarily adopted the policy of not projecting any victor within a state until all polls have closed for that state.
