So there’s a good chance Americans will get that Harris woman as their next President by default. Way. To. Go.
#15112908
At first I really liked Kamala Harris, for her moxy. But the more I learn about her the more I learn she's a careerist opportunist without real morals, and every time she talks she seems PO'd and doing the "tough prosecutor" thing.

Ah well, Biden got the black lady he was looking for. Identity quotas yay, who needs merit anyways. If she had a penis she wouldn't be picked. I eagerly await when she gets to verbally annihilate Trump (and Pence) in front of a mic.

Yeah, she likes locking people up. I watched Tulsi Gabbard destroy her in a debate...

Kamala Harris should show a little cleavage on the debate stage. Mike Pence will go insane IF his mother/wife even lets him attend.

Oh God, he picked Harris?

He really is a senile old bastard isn't he? Harris sucks.

Trump is going to win again. And as promised I will support his re-election fully.

Bernie Bros ain't gonna vote for Biden-Harras, they'll go third party.

Well @Pants-of-dog there is hardly a soul in my old Republican party who can even remotely claim libertarian roots. The party is the very opposite of that. It is a tax and spend fiscally liberal party that has completely abandoned the notion of personal agency, responsibility and privacy.

Where is the place for Cato's Radley Balko and this thoughts about the radicalization of police? Ron Paul sounds like he is a lost boy. Even the libertarian Koch Brothers are backing big spending, bedroom invading people like Trump and the Republican mainstream.

If you want a balanced budget? Bill Clinton. Want government out of the bedroom? Obama.

The fact is that the Republican Party has lost its mojo. This is not to say Trump may not win. Me might. In fact, unless the democrats have a word or two with white middle class voters, he will.

Come on Biden. You are middle class Joe. How about a word or two for the overwhelming majority of voters.

A few weeks ago when the news media leaked out Harris as Biden's pick and then took it back, President Trump said she was a good choice when asked about it.

“I think she would be a good choice, Kamala Harris. She would be a good choice” said the president as he left for a trip to Texas after being asked to rank her chances in the“ Veepstakes ”.

Even if some people who are not even associated with BLM are acting in ways that you do not like, ...

Yeah, I don't particularly like massive rioting and looting, like most voters in the US. But going by their own statements, members of BLM Chicago are just fine with it.

... the fact is that supoorting police brutality and extrajudicial killings by police is logically inconsistent with the libertarian tenet of minimising (and hopefully eradicating altogether) state actions against individuals.

What sane person supports police brutality and extrajudicial killings? Libertarians recognize that to have a functioning society you need some kind of organization whose duty it is to enforce the laws--law enforcement. And that law enforcement needs to be effective, not a figleaf.

As for Biden's VP pick, the MSM(D) whitewashing has already begun:

'More fake news': New York Times mocked for calling Kamala Harris 'pragmatic moderate'

The New York Times drew hoots on the right by describing Democratic veep pick Kamala Harris as a “pragmatic moderate,” even though her Senate voting record says otherwise.

The GovTrack 2018 report card ranked the California Democrat 96th out of 99 senators on a scale of most conservative to most liberal, placing her to the left of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who ranked 87th, and slightly to the right of Sen. Bernie Sanders, who placed 98th.

The GovTrack ranker was no outlier. Progressive Punch listed her as the fifth most progressive senator, with a lifetime “crucial votes” score of 96.76 out of 100, ahead of Mr. Sanders, who scored 94.93 and ranked tenth.

On her “overall record,” she ranked fifth with a score of 97.18, still to the left of Mr. Sanders, who placed eighth, but behind Ms. Warren, who placed second with a score of 98.53.

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, announced Tuesday that he had selected Ms. Harris as his running mate.

The New York Times announced her selection by tweeting: “Sen. Kamala Harris of California is Joe Biden’s pick for vice president. A pragmatic moderate, she is the first Black woman on a major party ticket.”

Among those who disputed the newspaper’s description was Sen. Tom Cotton, Arkansas Republican, who tweeted, “Pragmatic moderate?”

“Kamala Harris supports Medicare for All and she laughed at the idea that the Constitution would prevent her from confiscating guns,” said Mr. Cotton. “More fake news from the New York Times.”

The conservative Media Research Center’s Newsbusters called her “the most liberal vice presidential nominee ever to be nominated,” noting that the American Conservative Union gave her a lifetime rating of 3.03 out of 100. Her 2019 score was 0.

The “pragmatic moderate” claim is “just demonstrably false and absurd,” tweeted MRC associate editor Scott Whitlock.

Taking a look at GovTrack's 2019 scorecard, the actual moderate senators are:

  1. Lisa Murkowski (R) [50]
  2. John Tester (D) [48]
  3. Angus King (I) [45]
  4. Richard Shelby (R) [56], Susan Collins (R) [56], Chris Coons (D) [44]
  5. Gary Peters (D) [42], Maggie Hassan (D) [42]
  6. Joe Manchin (D) [59]
  7. Mark Warner (D) [40]

Kamala Harris's score is 0, beating out Sanders at 2 for the title of the most liberal senator of 2019. With a performance like that, it won't be hard for ad creators to find Harris votes that most voters won't like much.

They have. "You're racist. You're the past. Prepare to pay reparations. Black lives matter, yours...not so much." The Democrats have an even bigger problem with white working class voters, having deliberately put so many of them out of work. They also have their new n-word for these people: "non-essential." Ouch.

If you are pro-police during a protest against police brutality, you are inherently supporting police brutality,

MSM(D)

Every single media outlet in the USA is owned by a billionaire whose goal is to make money. This weird idea that they secretly want to make the US communist or whatever is just illogical and unrealistic.

As for Harris, she may be the most progressive Senator, but since the Senate let a sitting president deliberately ignore congressional oversight, that is not saying much.

Harris seems to be moderate for US politics:

That is the crazy logic of the left-wing radicals. Supporting law and order instead of rioting protesters has nothing to do with supporting police brutality. I don't know of anyone that supports the police that is not also against police brutality.

This is fantastic news! Kamala Harris's racial heritage will allow us to focus on the struggle of innocent darker skinned people against evil White racist imperialists.

For decades now I have been trying to highlight the struggles of the darker skinned Tibetans and Indians against the White racist Imperialist expansionist Chinese and their Uncle Tom collaborator allies in Pakistan.

Rugoz wrote:Harris is a good pick given the state of things.

Yes she's a very good pick. Joe Biden was given the nomination for a reason, well 2 reasons actually, and neither was his adeptness at debate or his command of complex policy issues. One was the threat that Bernie posed to the profits of the medical industrial complex. The other is that everyone with any political nous knows that Bernie is a ZINO, Zionist in name only. Everyone with any nous knows he's a closet Commie and a devout Palestinian lover. I doubt Bernie's real politics are much different from Corbyn's, but the different nature of the American political scene and lets be honest (I don't want to be mean to Jezza) his more dynamic charisma and more virile personal ambition have allowed him to obscure that.

Biden's VP had to be a woman and she had to be Black. No in this political climate Latino or Arabic with a heavy sun tan wouldn't cut it. That meant that the only thing that was up for grabs, in terms of virtue signalling, was the VP's husband. Oh no our Joe might have dementia, but he or at least his minders haven't forgot who gave him the nomination. Harris's "robust" criminal justice record will stand her in good stead because it to certain people it demonstrates quality of character. As John Hurt (Caligula) says:

"When I can't find a good man, I look for an ambitious one."

It's actually smart of old senile white male Biden to pick his own opposite middle-aged vigorous black female Kamala Harris with credentials of toughness as his running mate, it makes the ticket balanced at least.

What @Hindsite said.

Are you actually claiming that media outlets don’t have political agendas? I’ll remember that the next time you complain about Fox News and the Washington Times.

As for Harris, she may be the most progressive Senator, but since the Senate let a sitting president deliberately ignore congressional oversight, that is not saying much.

Harris seems to be moderate for US politics:
https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2020

Kamala Harris has served in the US Senate for three full years. In that time, on GovTrack’s ideology scale running from most Liberal at 0 up to 100 for most Conservative, she has scored 14, 5, and 0 for an average of 6.33. That is not a Moderate (40-60) voting record. It isn’t even Moderate Liberal (61-80). To be fair, she isn’t more Liberal than Sanders, over the same three years his average was 3. But she’s certainly keeping him company.

Rich wrote:Biden's VP had to be a woman and she had to be Black.

Which tells us everything about the current racist nature of the Democratic Party. It’s the Republicans that follow Martin Luther King these days: “ I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream that…one day right there in Alabama, little Black boys and Black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.”

And at least some Blacks recognize the Left’s true nature (though according to Biden they aren’t actually Black):

'It is racist': Founder of Conservative Clergy of Color counters Black Lives Matter message

The Rev. Aubrey Shines is obsessed with racism and is convinced racism is destroying America.

Not how you might think, though.

He says the popular narrative of Black Lives Matter and the Democratic Party’s racial justice politics is upside down.

“They are intentionally trying to divide Black and White Americans,” said Mr. Shines, the pastor of Glory to Glory Ministries in Tampa, Florida. “They are polarizing Black and White Americans based on this narrative. It is racist.”

It’s a counterintuitive message for a Black pastor to adopt in the summer of 2020 but a stance he considers of utmost importance.

Mr. Shines and three other Christian ministers, all Black or Hispanic, founded the Conservative Clergy of Color to refute what they say is the myth of “systemic racism” in the U.S.

“We proliferate truthful narratives on the issues of racism throughout our influential network of pastors and across multiple media channels to prevent the destruction of our country driven by increasingly divisive forces,” the group’s mission statement declares.

By expressing such views, Mr. Shines, 59, has aligned himself against the crowds in faculty lounges, Madison Avenue boardrooms and sports arenas.

It’s an uncomfortable spot to occupy, but Mr. Shines says the Conservative Clergy of Color has truth on its side.

“We have begun to engage the culture, and we are using civility and diplomacy to create havoc with everything we do,” he told The Washington Times. “The mainstream media are lying nut jobs. They’re not being honest with you.”

The core problem, in Mr. Shines’ telling, is the unfulfilled promises of a Democratic Party plagued by a racist past and a Black Lives Matter movement seeking a Marxist revolution.

“Democrats and their foot soldiers on the left insist there is a rot in our country, but the only rot I see is the rot that has festered in the very foundations of the Democratic Party, a party that was built from the ground up on the backs of oppressed Blacks,” he recently wrote on the group’s Facebook page.

Mr. Shines insists his message is detached from his politics. When he first meets young Black men, he encourages them to ignore his politics.

“My personal opinion should never matter to you,” he said. “If I can’t show you things are historically true, with data, then you should go somewhere else.”

Mr. Shines argues that widespread fractures in Black families and generational poverty in the Black community are caused by government policies that encourage dependence.

He also disputes the notion that Black men are the targets of widespread violence by police.

The data, however, cuts both ways.

Studies in 2018 showed Black people have more than double the chance of being killed by police in their lifetime than White people. In 2019, statistics showed Black victims comprised less than 25% of all fatal police shootings while committing more than half of known homicides and 60% of robberies.

Mr. Shines and Conservative Clergy of Color leaders are undeterred. In their opinion, the appalling bloodshed that has plagued many urban neighborhoods is a much bigger problem than police violence.

“Black men are out there being slaughtered, but that’s not White officers who did that,” said Mr. Shines, a married father of three.

Honesty has been a cornerstone of his life, he said, instilled by his parents during his childhood in Chicago. His father knew deep racism, he said, insisting it was the sort of discrimination and mistreatment that is wholly absent today.

“He was born in the 1920s, in Mississippi, in the heart of segregation,” Mr. Shines recalled. “But he always believed in God and country, he always had a moral compass.”

Conservative Clergy of Color was established in June with an op-ed by Mr. Shines in The Washington Times.

Mr. Shines, the Rev. Derek McCoy of Beltsville, Maryland, pastor Francisco Vega of Atlanta and the Rev. M.J. Reid of Detroit have advanced their unique anti-racism message with a campaign across social media, TV and print publications. They have drawn a sharp contrast between what they consider fake and real issues confronting minorities in the U.S.

Mr. Shines said he sees no distinction between the founders of Black Lives Matter and the far-left revolution afoot in America.

The former began as a social media hashtag that blossomed in the aftermath of Trayvon Martin’s death in Florida in 2013 and Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Missouri, the following year.

The broader movement that has made headlines after George Floyd died in Minneapolis police custody, he says, has a sharply leftist agenda.

“You can’t say, ‘That part isn’t us,’” he said, adding that the violence that has erupted from the demonstrations is part and parcel of the broader socialist movement.

Mr. Shines‘ counternarrative has received its share of blowback. He has been accused of personally profiting from his endeavors, he and his family have received threats of violence, and his position has made him a pariah among wide swaths of the Black community and White liberals.

He said the threats have increased since his July appearance on C-SPAN and Conservative Clergy of Color’s social media push.

“I don’t have some fancy new house. I don’t have a boat or drive a new car,” he said, disputing allegations of profiteering.

Despite the accusations, Mr. Shines said, Concerned Clergy of Color has resonated nationwide and now boasts more than 500 members.

“We’re not in the Dakotas yet,” he said. “But I’ve had four calls from Illinois this morning, and we are being inundated with calls. We can barely keep up. It’s been very humbling, but I think what has happened with just stating facts is that with the Blacks we get calling in [and] the Hispanic callers, they realize the cavalry is here and backing them up.”
