CNN did a few interviews of why young people and adults these days are in favor of socialism. I am personally not a socialist though I believe in a middle ground and a happy medium. For example, I am a supporter of strong unions and strong union laws. However, I am not so sure I am quite as left as some of those being interviewed below. You sort of see two extremes developing in American politics. However, the fact that America has allowed the wealthy to engage in economic gluttony helps explain why socialism has become more popular with younger people.
The older Boomers have enjoyed prosperity that was left to them by the World War II generation whereas younger people were never the recipients of any of the post World War II economic boom. It's not hard to see why this would be the reaction to extreme economic gluttony of the rich. Plus the future and prosperity of young people was neglected and forgotten.
So, this is the logical end result. I believe that the middle ground is where we need to be though rather than on either of the extremes in politics. I am a supporter of Pete Buttigieg and believe he is the most qualified to lead our country. However, there is no guarantee he will be the Democratic nominee.
You can kinda see little younger Che Guevaras with some of those being interviewed:
