@jimjam

Don't worry about it for a moment. All of our emotions are running high these days. I snapped at a person the other day that I believe is one of the finest I have ever met. And that is not like me at all.

If you need to vent I suspect that @annatar1914 and I have broad enough shoulders to take it. That is half of the fun.

“The president of the United States calls the shots,” Donald says. “They can’t do anything without the approval of the president of the United States. When somebody’s the president of the United States, the authority is total.”

No further proof is needed that this game show host is fully unqualified for the job. Just at a point in history where we need another F.D.R. we get a blustering mental case of a wind bag.

Obese Donald's Twitter crowd may be noisy and persistent, but they are a shrinking minority. If not observing social distancing, they will be shrinking even faster. Ironically, those groups most susceptible to the virus are fatso's constituents – older Americans, red state Americans who are not being careful, and those with underlying health conditions such as obesity-related hypertension and diabetes.

And Donald - you do not have "complete authority” over me , or the many others will not go back to work or break quarantine until this is over. We are not going back until it is safe, job or no job, and will help our less fortunate neighbors do the same.

Sounds like Donny is chanelling Ricky Nixon.

True, but those older people...I think those stats are slightly skewed. Folks in nursing homes can't escape their environment.

Mother is in a care home, not because she is nuts or lost her will to live. She simply couldn't physically look after herself after an accident, but she's undergone two years of self physiotherapy and is stronger than ever.

The problem is, a company will own X-number of homes, and hire staff who can be moved through all the homes as needed. A worker can pick up corona virus-19 and move throughout every house, passing on the virus. Theoretically once the worker is identified, they should be self isolated but the nursing homes need the workers, and seem to have fallen short of the mark, and let infected workers move through. The full story isn't out here in BC, but it will be.

Dear Lord no! I'm not going to go anywhere in order to promote someones business at the expense of my life. There's ways I can increase my income safely.

True. And if you have the same problem we have in the states, these employees are minimum wage workers. They could not afford to take a day off work if they wanted to. Couple this with the fact that non symptomatic people can spread the disease and you have a disaster in the making.

But Obese Donald claimed credit on Monday for the states’ actions. “That’s because I let that happen,” he said. HOLY SHIT!! This guy is so full of crap that it's really depressing that anyone at all believes him. That there are so many people out there that still think this lunatic we have for a president is doing a great job is as scary as the coronavirus pandemic.

The last thing we need is the same person who claimed COVID-19 was a "Democratic Hoax" calling the shots. Enough of a bad reality TV show. Unfit, unhinged and without boundaries, trump would trade a lot of lives for his re-election. :*(

One sister-in-law worked for a regular hospital but retired when her husband did. Another SIL works for a nursing home, as does my best friend. All belong to the BC Government Employees' Union, ergo, all are well paid. I don't know about the mainland. They maybe low paid.

That said, my first SIL is doing well. The second isnt. My friend is a single mom who shares her home with her dad. Homes here are ridiculously expensive. Without Dad's contribution, she'd be hard pressed to have her home, full stop.

So two out of three can't afford a cheque cut. Now, my friend is frequently asked (pressured) to work a second shift. She generally accepts it because the overtime is good. I suspect she needs it for a pension, as she was a stay-home mom for maybe 15 years.. But if she doesn't do the shift, heaven knows from where they find a replacement.

It isn’t surprising to see so many people are now viewed as both expendable and even as excess.

SpecialOlympian wrote:Some people might look at the sudden drop in stock prices and realize the real value behind a company is its human labor.

Other people look at it and believe we must sacrifice fresh bodies to make the economy happy. The economy demands blood! Blood for the market!

Some fear change and sacrifice. To this, we say that the Emperor protects in all His wisdom and glory! If you aren’t willing to burn to death walking into our newly-planned energy reactors holding the fuel needed to keep our society running, are you doing your part for Holy Terra? Less complaining, more heretic hunting and witch burning!

Cutting funding to the organization that is needed now more than ever. Delaying stimulus checks so that his signature can be placed on the memo line. Making an implicit threat to fire Fauci. Thinking his intuition is a good substitute for science. All for the sake of shifting blame, stroking his own ego, and seeking the adulation that he must have desperately missed as a boy.
How anyone could have voted for this brat boggles the mind. That he still has the support of anyone crushes my faith in humanity.

Don't think of it that way. Think of it as proof of the bell curve. The only thing wrong with the bell curve is that it has left on the wrong side.

We will still be practicing social distancing at Christmas. We will still not have a vaccine. We will have, at best, some moderate treatments though we will have the process down by then. The very idea that this will be anything like over in May is a fucking joke.

If I was running China, a country awash in cash, I would write a check for the entire US share of the WHO budget and send it today. I would tell the world that it is time that we had world leadership. It would work swimmingly.

Trump has taken another sheet from Putin's playbook. I have this picture in my mind. I imagine that Russia is not pulling the strings. (Though I think they are.) I see Putin and his buds sitting around with a beer and watching Trump destroy America's world position single handed. They literally have to be rolling on the floor laughing.

Seriously though. Trump supporters have to be unique in world history for being the most abjectly stupid group ever convened for a political cause.

capitalism is just one giant death panel. and it's not nature's death panel, it's a cronyistic death panel.

Actually it is those who supporting China (which made this epidemic spread in the first place) who crushed my faith in humanity (to be fair, well before this outbreak). What's happening in the United States is entirely something else.

Russia is also suffering when they got it from the West. I don't really think they have the leisure to laugh at anybody now.

A message from the President of the United States of America and the Business Community.

But we do have socialism, just for the rich.

My Boeing shares are still up because I bought near the bottom, $99.75 with the 52 week low being $89.00. Despite Boeing turning down a deal with the government because they would have to make them a shareholder and losing contracts for 150 planes I'm ahead. It's pretty cool that we can just shoot $2 trillion straight into the market like an adrenaline shot straight to the heart but fuck you poors, here's 1 month of pre-tax federal minimum wages.

Working forty hours a week at $7.25 for four weeks is $1,160, for reference.

I guarantee that not one rich person has missed a meal.

In fact, not one rich person has missed anything...other than a chance to take a vacation in the luxury resort of his or her choice.

But Trumpers, many of whom are probably now living in card board boxes and eating out of garbage cans, think Trump in the best.

jimjam wrote:It turns out that when it comes to their religious prayer habits, Americans are much more like people in poorer, developing 3rd world nations – including South Africa (52%), Bangladesh (57%) and Bolivia (56%) – than people in richer countries.

And even though America is a rich country, it has a much higher percentage of poor people than other rich people....AND America's rich people are much richer than the rich people in other rich countries.

AND the US is the only country out of 102 in the Pew study that has higher-than-average levels of both prayer and wealth. In every other country surveyed with a gross domestic product of more than $30,000 per person, fewer than 40% of adults say they pray every day.

 This is the most blatant Cultural Marxist propaganda. They deliberately didn't survey any of the rich Middle Eastern countries so as to get the result they wanted. Who knows what other tricks they got up to, to fix the data.
