Beren wrote:Anyway, guys, Trump won't be jailed for tax fraud or being a mob boss or an arsehole or a crook. He wasn't even successfully impeached after his fans had breached into the Capitol. He could be jailed only for treason, which is not even on the table. He's actually planning to run for president again, so, besides trolling, you'd rather prepare for that.

It is not that relevant to myself that Donald be seen behind bars. But, I freely admit that that would be way cool. But, now that he cannot hide in the Whitehouse I would LOVE to see laid out clearly in state courts his life long criminal career. Impeachment proceedings was a nice start before a decidedly partial jury where the outcome was a rigged forgone conclusion. Now let's put him on trial before a jury of real people. It would be so refreshing to see his fat ass giving testimony under oath.

As Mr. Vance succinctly noted recently, "The work continues." :)

That'd be a realistic wish, let the people see how he really is, but expectations shouldn't be lashed up too much again, people will get too much frustrated and pissed off sooner or later. I mean Russiagate was a dud, impeachments were duds, and this will be a dud too if you expect him to be sent to jail. Then anti-Trump people will also ask if what the hell that whole republic is good for.

Ah, I was thinking more in international terms, how other countries see us. Domestically is different to be sure, but I would argue that the optics are still better to jail Trump if he is found guilty than not to. It's a lose-lose situation with the die-hard Trump base: failure to punish Trump will raise his standing, encourage them and set the precedent of no or minor consequences for bad actions; punishing Trump will piss them off, but they are already pissed off. If evidence is well laid out in State courts, then you are showing that no one is above the law. In this case, I believe the positive optics outweigh the negative ones.

Good luck with the Biden presidency then, if someone still cares while Trump being in the limelight all along.

John Dean the former White House counsel to former President Nixon, on Thursday, predicted that former President Trump would soon be indicted after reports that his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen has met with the Manhattan district attorney's office for a number of interviews.

“From personal experience, as a key witness, I assure you that you do not visit a prosecutor’s office 7 times if they are not planning to indict those about whom you have knowledge. It is only a matter of how many days until DA Vance indicts Donald & Co,” Dean wrote on Twitter.

On Tuesday it was reported that the Manhattan DA's office was intensifying its investigation into Trump, paying particular attention to his Seven Springs estate in New York. Previous reports have indicated that Vance is looking to find out if the value of the property was inflated in order to reap greater benefits from financial institutions.

Not by a long shot. You are showing that anyone who opposes the Democrat political machine is not above the law, and anyone that favors it is above the law. Hillary Clinton would be a shining example. Biden's own behavior in cahoots with his son is a fine example. Most of the rioters who got bailed out of jail by Democrats would be another example. The Democrat party is pretty much organized crime.

Right. Did you watch Biden's address for the anniversary of the Covid pandemic declaration? I didn't. Again, no questions asked. It's as bizarre a presidency as I've ever seen.

It would be interesting to see if he tries to indict Trump, because he's on the way out. He's not raising any money for re-lection and has announced he's not running. So perhaps expect some accusation without much follow through, because he won't be there to prosecute the case to its conclusion.

Vance will not be running for re election but he still has months to work on the Trump crime family case. Would Preet Bharara not be a good person to take the helm? He was very successful at his job, till Trump dismissed him. He took down a lot of the mafia crime family figures. He was focused and successful.

The former daughter-in-law of a Trump Organization executive on Thursday turned over boxes filled with financial documents to Manhattan prosecutors who are investigating former President Donald J. Trump and his business, according to her representatives.

Investigators for the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., acting on a grand jury subpoena, collected several boxes of documents and a laptop from the Upper West Side apartment of the woman, Jennifer Weisselberg, who was married to a son of the longtime Trump executive Allen H. Weisselberg.

Ms. Weisselberg has said that prosecutors from Mr. Vance’s office have questioned her about gifts that the Weisselberg family received from Mr. Trump and his company. Those gifts include an apartment on Central Park South, leased cars and school tuition, she said.

I wonder why Fat Donald would give these folks "gifts" …..

Federal investigators in Manhattan executed search warrants early Wednesday at the home and office of Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who became President Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, stepping up a criminal investigation into Mr. Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine.

I can hear Fat Donald now: “I never knew the guy.”

If Trump is indicted in New York, both the U.S. Constitution and a federal statute dating to 1793 require DeSantis (or the governor of whatever state Trump is in at the time) to hand him over. And if DeSantis still refuses, a 1987 Supreme Court decision makes clear that federal courts can order him to comply. Unlike in cases of international extradition, where treaties often leave significant room for political and diplomatic machinations and maneuvering, the law of interstate extradition is both clear and straightforward.

Damn a 3 1/2 month old thread and Trump is no where near going to be on trial. Dream on Dems. I predict Hunter Biden (the smartest man Joe Biden knows) will go on trial for child pornography, drug abuse, embezzlement, or whatever, before Trump ever faces charges.

Donald Trump is facing growing legal danger after the attorney general’s office in New York said it had opened a criminal investigation into his business activities and those of other Trump family members.

The attorney general, Letitia James, had been conducting a civil inquiry into the Trump Organization. On Tuesday night, her office said it was joining a sweeping criminal investigation being conducted in parallel by Manhattan’s district attorney, Cyrus Vance.

The move – communicated in a recent letter from James to the Trump Organization – significantly raises the stakes for the former Republican president, who now faces three separate criminal investigations.

and: In February, prosecutors in Fulton county, Georgia, opened a criminal investigation into Trump’s attempts to influence the state’s 2020 election results, after he was recorded pressuring Georgia’s secretary of state to overturn the outcome of voting based on unfounded claims of tampering.

Stay tuned, Fat Donald can no longer hide in the White House bathroom as the wheels of justice turn slowly and methodically to assure that Fatso reaps what he has so copiously sowed. :)

So you dislike how Vladimir Putin treats his political opponents, but you embrace Lavrentiy Beria-like tactics when used against Trump? How do you really think this plays around the world? It's clearly criminalizing political differences, because you don't have a plain-as-day crime right in front of you--like Hillary Clinton destroying official records or using a private email server to send and receive classified information. You're still looking for the crime.

jimjam wrote:Trump is the most disgraceful president in US history. He is unconscionable and the GOP willingness to support his blatant filthy big lie is the biggest disgrace that party has conjured in my lifetime. It is my deep wish that justice is served, Trump is the center of the lie dividing the country and he must be brought to justice. This gutless soul-less man, a manipulating lying sketchy con man, brought the country to this. This cannot and must not be swept under the rug. At Trump's impeachment trial, the Democrats need to expose the plot and explain it to the public over and over in all media outlets, loudly and forcefully. They must bang away it just as the GOP banged away at Benghazi for years, except the Democrats must do it louder.

This post is typical left-wing Marxist propaganda and proof that America is unstoppable plunging into a destructive communist dictatorship.
President Trump was the last chance to save America from such a development.
