What will Russia and China set off against US missile defence in Asia-Pacific region?
Contrary to a discontent of Moscow and Beijing US on 7th of March started to deploy the anti-ballistic missile system (ABMS) THAAD at South Korea.
The Russian and Chinese representatives of military departments said about the threats of ABMS. According to their, Washington creates an anti-Russian and anti-Chinese system of protection against nuclear attack, and at any moment can turn components of ABMS to the launcher of cruise missiles.
Beijing and Moscow have agreed to take joint measures for the protection of the THAAD, stressing that the deployment of this system on the territory of South Korea will be detrimental to strategic stability and mutual trust and strategic interests in the security of China, Russia and other States of the region. However, it was noted that Russian and Chinese modern missiles can overcome the US missile defense system.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that the country has developed a new Intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat". Their weight reaches 100 tons plus payload of 10 tons. The modern missiles weigh on average about 50-60 tons, and payload is 1–2 tons. The increased weight and load say that the "Sarmat" will carry 15 self-guided nuclear warheads, which can be even more maneuverable and difficult to intercept.
Also, talking about the US ABMS, Rogozin said that the strategic nuclear submarines of class "Northwind" can "break through" any defense system for its missile systems. Submarines of class "Northwind" is the newest Russian strategic nuclear submarines armed with specially designed Intercontinental ballistic missiles "Bulava". "Bulava" can hit targets within a radius of 8 thousand km and carry from 6 to 10 hypersonic warheads.
Russia has also the newest upgraded rocket complex "Iskander-M". It can carry various warheads including nuclear and with a salvo launch two rockets within one minute getting two targets. This complex is maneuverability, it is difficult to detect and, in addition, can be used in different conditions.
It is known that the Pentagon believes Russian Intercontinental ballistic missile RS-24 "YARS" was created on the basis of the missile complex "Topol-M" the most powerful of the currently existing rockets. Its range reaches 11 thousand km. "YARS" also can "break through" the defense, because it has multiple warheads with individual guidance warheads and the maneuvering tail can change orbit, what largely prevents the missile defense system a potential enemy.
The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has mobile missile systems equipped with solid-fuel Intercontinental ballistic missile Dongfeng-41 (DF-41). DF-41 carries up to 10 individual guidance warheads and can overcome US missile defense. It is one of the most long-range missiles in the world, its combat range is between 12 to 14 thousand km. DF-41 is the most powerful and advanced Intercontinental missile in the Chinese Arsenal of strategic nuclear weapons.
Thus, Russia and China are concerned with the events on the Korean Peninsula and it will lead to a close military and technical cooperation between the two countries to counter US missile defense. The actions of the US in Asia Pacific are likely to lead to a new arms race in the region.

Trump could actually bomb North Korea with cruise missiles and specific missile launch sites would be taken down, which would disable North Korea's ballistic missile program for a while. Then we will see before and after photos like the photo above. The THAAD system would protect Seoul from possible retaliatory strikes from North Korea. The US needs to consult Russia as it did before bombing the Syrian air base to avoid triggering a nuclear war accidentally. It would be a grave mistake to dispatch the expeditionary unit to Pyongyang, which will provoke a military response from China. But there is nothing wrong with destroying North Korean missile bases remotely.

There is no “easy” way to back up the threat of military action with a low-level or limited strike such as that conducted last week in Syria against a regime air base.

“The administration knows any kind of military attack on North Korea could lead to a North Korean military response and even perhaps an all-out conflict on the peninsula — and that would be hundreds of thousands of casualties,” Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told AFP.
