The situation on the Korean peninsula and around it, without exaggeration, is in the focus of attention of the whole world. And this is understandable, because the sharply increased tension in the region is fraught with the most serious consequences, not only for the countries of East Asia, but also for other regions. The United States has a special influence on the situation on the Korean peninsula, because its actions involve other countries in the conflict.
Elements of the US missile defense system in South Korea destabilize the situation in the region, said Russia's permanent representative in the UN Vasily Nebenzya.
He mentioned large-scale exercises and maneuvers of the US and its allies, sending strategic bombers and aircraft carriers to the region.
"An additional destabilizing factor in the region is the building up of elements of the US missile defense system THAAD in the Republic of Korea. We have said more than once that such actions are not only an irritant, but they also undermine the existing military balance in the region and call into question the security of the neighboring countries, " Nebenzya said.
In addition, China also remains dissatisfied with the deployment of US missile defense systems on the Korean peninsula.
The deployment in South Korea of the US missile defense systems THAAD does not contribute to stability in the region. This was stated on August 5 by the Permanent Representative of China to the UN, Liu Jieiy, following the voting for tougher sanctions against the DPRK.
"The deployment of THAAD will not lead to a solution to the North Korean problem and will not stop the DPRK's missile and nuclear tests," the diplomat said. He noted that Pyongyang as well as Washington should stop "actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region."
According to the representative of China, the unanimous endorsement of the resolution showed "unity of positions of the countries on the issue of achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula." At the same time, Beijing insists that the world community achieve strict implementation of new restrictive measures against Pyongyang.
On August 5, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution tightening sanctions against the DPRK. The document provides for the ban on exports of minerals and products, including coal, iron, lead and seafood from the DPRK. The text also spells out other restrictions, including targeted measures against individuals and enterprises related to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs. Russia repeatedly warned against imposing excessively harsh restrictions on the DPRK, stressing that they should not lead to strangulation of the country and its people.

Probably North Korea changed the original plan to fire missiles toward Guam after exchanging barbs with Trump and picked Japan instead as an alternative target, which is a weaker foe without any military might to retaliate that Comrade Kim should fear. Japan's missile defence system was not even activated and the missile just passed through Japanese airspace and dropped into the Pacific Ocean after separating into three parts.

They are either crazy or know something I don't. Trump can not back off his threat without committing political suicide.

The way I read the situation is that...
China will be neutral if North Korea test fires missiles towards Guam but if the US fires missiles at North Korea, China will take the side of North Korea.
Trump can do sweet fuck all. lol

How is firing them over Japan different than firing them toward Guam?
If China sees a difference then obviously they are behind North Korea's behavior.
Why are you happy about the US being in what you see as an embarrassing position?

Cause the US is a pariah military state that has caused misery and mayhem throughout the world during my lifetime. It's actions have fucked up the lives of millions upon millions of innocent people including me and my family.
You don't get it, do you? The US is hated around the world.
Wake the fuck up!

:eh:
Reminder that most of the world hates America.

Edit

North Korea has fired a missile over northern Japan in a move Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called an "unprecedented" threat to his country.
The missile, launched early on Tuesday Korean time, flew over Hokkaido island before crashing into the sea.
The UN Security Council is expected to hold an emergency meeting in response.
North Korea has conducted a flurry of missile tests recently, but this is the first time it has fired what is thought to be a ballistic weapon over Japan.
On the two previous occasions its rockets crossed Japan - in 1998 and 2009 - North Korea said they were for satellite launch vehicles, not weapons.
The BBC's Rupert Wingfield-Hayes in Tokyo says this latest launch appears to be the first of a missile powerful enough to potentially carry a nuclear warhead.
Residents told to seek shelter
The South Korean military said the missile was fired eastward just before 06:00 local time (21:00 GMT) from near the North's capital, Pyongyang - which is rare.
Early analysis of the launch suggests the missile:
■ flew a distance of more than 2,700km (1,678 miles)
■ was likely a Hwasong-12, a newly developed intermediate range weapon
■ reached a maximum altitude of about 550km (342 miles), lower than most previous North Korean tests
■ fell into the North Pacific Ocean 1,180km off the Japanese coast after breaking into three pieces
No effort was made by Japan to shoot down the missile but it issued a safety warning telling citizens in Hokkaido to take shelter in "a sturdy building or basement".
US and Japanese forces have just finished a joint drill in Hokkaido while another annual military exercise involving tens of thousands of South Korean and US soldiers is still under way in South Korea.
The North sees these regular military drills involving the US as highly provocative, perceiving them as a rehearsal for an invasion.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in ordered a show of "overwhelming" force in response to the launch. Four South Korean jets staged a live bombing drill on Tuesday.
Mr Abe said he had spoken to US President Donald Trump and that both agreed to increase pressure on North Korea. The Pentagon meanwhile said the launch did not represent a threat to the US itself but that the military was working to gather more intelligence about it.
Russia also weighed in on the debate, with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov saying the country was "extremely worried" about the situation and warning of a "tendency towards an escalation".
