During this time, the Aegis systems with the missile interceptor SM-3, as well as the PAC-3 (Patriot-3) missiles were deployed to defeat enemy missiles within the atmosphere at an altitude of 15-20 kilometers.
American anti-missile systems Aegis Ashore, which the Japanese side intends to put into operation by 2023 in Akita and Yamaguchi prefectures, will in fact duplicate the interception of missiles from the sea if necessary.
