In July 2016, the United States and South Korea agreed to deploy the US missile defense system THAAD, which, if necessary, would intercept the DPRK's ballistic missiles.
According to RIA News report of late January 2018, all six components of the US missile defense system THAAD are already deployed in South Korea. It is obvious to many military experts that the buildup of the US military presence on the Korean peninsula, including the installation of anti-missile defense systems, goes beyond the task of containing the "North Korean threat". This fact causes concern for China and Russia. But is the US ABM in the Asia-Pacific region so dangerous for potential opponents of South Korea or Japan?
As the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported, the American missile defense system Aegis did not pass the test in a polygon that were conducted in Hawaii at the end of January 2018. This information was confirmed in the Pentagon.
It is reported that the US Missile Defense Agency and the US Navy conducted tests of the Aegis Ashore missile defense system using the SM-3 Block IIA missile, which ended in failure. This is the second failed test missile, developed by Raytheon. In 2017, the trial launch of the SM 3 Block IIA missile ended in failure: the Navy soldier mistakenly activated the mechanism of its self-destruction.
South Korea bought the US missile defense system for one billion dollars. Initially, this agreement did not exist between the parties. However, Donald Trump said in a recent interview with Reuters that he intends to demand from South Korea $ 1 billion for the THAAD missile defense system, which is aimed at protecting against a potential threat from the DPRK.
According to Senator from the Republican Party Elise Stefanik, tests showed that the US cannot withstand all missile attacks. Only 10 of the 18 tests were successful, even though none of the tests were conducted in an environment close to real combat conditions. In this regard, the US attempts to defend itself against a massive nuclear missile strike by Russia, China, the DPRK or Iran with the help of a ground-based anti-ballistic missile defense system are in vain.

It would be dangerous if it got hacked by N.Korea,I mean, we can't have an American nuclear missile turning it's back on N.Korea, then head straight for Washington DC now, can we? :p :p
