Officer from Gurkha contingent for next President of Singapore

The Gurkha Contingent (GC) is a line department of the Singapore Police Force consisting primarily of Gurkhas from Nepal. Members of the GC are trained to be highly skilled and are selected for their display of strong discipline and dedication in their tasks. The principal role of the contingent is to be a special guard force, and it is currently used as a counter-terrorist force.

Since the issue is all about protecting our sacred/revered 'reserves', maybe it is better that we elect a gurkah as president to protect Singapore's reserves.

Afterall, the President is kinda sock puppet/ mouthpiece of the cabinet and even when issuing criminal pardons, must act on the advice of cabinet and cabinet wrote her speech at the opening of parliament: i.e. he /she is just mostly a rubber stamp operation with a fancy signature to boot: actually, electing the president is just a fake display of democracy since Singaporeans are so starved of democratic representation, some semblence of elections (if not just for the purpose of declaring a public holiday with free entertainment, some minor relaxation in the restrictions on free speech in the run up hastings) is much welcome relief in strait jacket, uptight Singapore.

A Gurkha can also look as fierce and angry as the Cabinet wants him to (when opposition MPs ask for more social welfare/ subsidies) and is paid a low level salary: a much more economical option and will remove allegations that it is just another golden parachute retirement pension scheme invented for retiring PAP top brass or a reward for CEOs who in their working life operated in cahoots with the PAP.

A Gurkha President cannot be corrupt because like all Singaporeans, he will not be aware about the actual value of Singapore reserves and foreign spies who speak to him won't be any wiser. It would be, as it currently is, that all power vest in cabinet.

Even during Istana open house days, Singaporeans can be assured that security will be tip top. Cabinet will fee more safe within Istana grounds as they use Sri Temasek for their regular meetings too.

I'm sure that Singaporeans would eagerly forgo our fake presidential elections for perhaps zero GST increase if it means achieving the same protection of our reserves at a much lower costs. Pls do away with the presidential elections, it is too expensive a charade / wayang show than we can tahan in terms of cost of living increase as a consequence. We already have an annual Chingay parade, we don't need another overpriced wayang show or beauty pagent of rich/powerful corporate / political elite who happen to be of one racial group or another to give the PAP a multiracial mast head or cabinet a multiracial expression which we all know is based mainly on the size of one's bank account (we all know that the size of one's paycheque/ one's corporate/political rank is the primary qualification criteria)... I think that in terms of affordability, the top performing gurkah from the Singapore gurkha contingent, just after retirement and for 4years before returning to Nepal, he should be the president of Singapore, and the salary equivalent to that of a neighbourhood primary school principal should suit him just fine (every school is a good school remember?).

Since in Singapore, productivity is essentially measured by GST contribution on a per capita basis, affordability of the post of President should be an important consideration and deployment of a Gurkha to that position seems to very much fulfill the sweet spot of affordability vs purpose on all counts.
