These North Korean defectors were illegal immigrants in China before they were allowed to immigrate to the United States as defectors. To get the refugee visa, they have learned to elaborate on their horrible experiences in North Korea. North Korean defectors are known to change their stories they made up, which is similar to comfort women survivors in South Korea. Probably this is a cultural thing.
The young girl doesn't have a Korean accent; though does seem to have a Central Asian accent. Maybe she is from Kazakhstan (where a sizable Korean population lives, who were removed to there by the Soviets).
But actually, she doesn't even look Korean. So perhaps she is from Kyrgyzstan.
Anyhow, I think the video (which is not very lengthy, so easy to watch and comment on) makes good points, which I've had at least an intuitive awareness of for some time.
I've heard of 'North Korean defectors' being denied passage to South Korea, because their stories were not very credible, and they didn't have documentation to prove their situation (which they do demand).
I've heard Iranians on BBC, for example, telling completely unverifiable horror stories, which was like news porn; but sounded about just as genuine as Brent Kavenaugh the other day before the Senate.
