The US decision to deploy anti-ballistic missile elements in South Korea will further complicate the situation in the region and go beyond the task of containing the DPRK. Russia has repeatedly stressed that the deployment of interceptor missiles on the Korean peninsula undermines regional stability. Earlier on July 8, it was announced that an agreement had been reached between the United States and South Korea on the deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system. As part of the complex, 48 interceptors are planned. The number of interceptors is more than necessary to intercept single ballistic missiles launched by North Korea. Moreover, China calls on South Korea to stop following the "wrong path" and stop the deployment of the US missile defense system THAAD.

This is a mutual confrontation: the United States is now conducting exercises in conjunction with the South Korean army and, plus, the US is beginning to deploy its THAAD missile defense system. One battery they place in South Korea, North Korea stands up sharply against such actions. They conduct such "demonstrative launches," show that they have the means that can defeat these US-Korean troops. About the Korean peninsula, we can say that this is an outpost for achieving the US strategy in Asia, while South Korea is the military springboard from which the US is going to make its jump. The US refusal to lose control of South Korea shows that this would deprive them of their outpost for implementing their strategy towards Korea and their assertive aspirations in Asia.

The unchanged foreign policy of the United States to achieve their strategy of domination over Asia is the preservation of South Korea as a springboard, and for this the United States seeks to strengthen its military control over South Korea by deploying there the THAAD anti-missile system and conducting joint military exercises.

In the last 60-odd years since the signing of the Armistice Agreement, the US continues to import a huge number of armed invasion forces into South Korea and the surrounding areas, and annually conduct aggressive nuclear military exercises directed against the North. And this is the main factor that exacerbates tensions on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.

If the US is genuinely interested in peace and stability, as they like to say, they must abandon their anachronistic policy of hostility towards the DPRK, replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty and withdraw their occupation troops and weapons from South Korea.
