Russia has banned entry to the country by leaders of two Japanese organizations for anti-Russian speeches. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Lukashevich, commenting on the decisions of the Japanese side not to bring to justice those who have outraged the Russian flag on February 7, 2018.
"Moscow took note of the Japanese extremist organization Dai Nihon Tsusei Doshikai" (the so-called "Society of Comrades Loyal to Great Japan"), whose members committed hooligan actions against the Russian flag. We are convinced that not a single self-respecting person in Russia and one Russian NGO will not stain itself with communication with the said "structure", he said. At the same time, the organization’s leadership will be banned from entering the Russian Federation, A. Lukashevich said.
“We also do not consider that it possible to receive a delegation from another Japanese NGO, the League of Solidarity for the Return of the Northern Territories, in Russia,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman.
The diplomat recalled that on March 1, Japanese authorities reported that they did not see evidence of a crime in the anti-Russian actions committed by Japanese nationalists on February 7 in front of the Russian embassy in Tokyo.
As A. Lukashevich pointed out, the Russian side has already evaluated this trick of the radicals as hooligan and outrageous, and insisted on conducting an investigation and strictly punishing those guilty of insulting the symbols of the Russian state. However, the Japanese authorities, contrary to the obvious facts, confirmed by video materials, did not recognize the said actions as a violation of the law.
The Russian Foreign Ministry told the Japanese embassy in Moscow a protest about the position taken by the Japanese authorities when considering and qualifying the incident. A similar demarche was undertaken by the Russian Embassy in Tokyo to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
"We have to admit that the connivance of the Japanese authorities towards persons who committed anti-Russian extremist actions publicly became possible under conditions when unreasonable territorial claims on Russia acquired a radical character in Japan and were replicated with the support of the Japanese authorities. Not surprisingly, in such an atmosphere, extremists allow themselves outrageous antics without fear of responsibility. "
In the light of the above, the Russian side demanded a re-investigation of the actions of the above-mentioned persons, the determination of their guilt and appropriate punishment, A. Lukashevich noted.
Moreover, the Russian side reserves the right to bring Japanese hooligans to criminal responsibility in accordance with Russian legislation, the diplomat said.
It should be recalled that the incident occurred on February 7, 2018 in Tokyo. About 1,500 people, including the Prime Minister of Japan, Naoto Kan, took part in the rally, demanding the return of Tokyo’s South Kuril Islands. Part of the radicals in front of the Russian embassy burned the Russian flag. The Japanese authorities did not consider these actions to be a desecration of the state symbol of the Russian Federation and refused to prosecute them.
