Here's the relevant bit from the OP's article:
CNN wrote:In the coming weeks and months, the international community -- and the United States in particular -- must heed our warning and act: Hungary's government is a threat to the rules-based international order.

European governments and the US have a moral obligation to intervene. We cannot stand aside and let populist, far-right governments drag democratic European states into Vladimir Putin's orbit and undermine the postwar international norms.

Political and financial costs must be attached to governments pursuing an authoritarian path and support provided to civil society organizations and the citizens of Hungary, who deserve much better than this.

The inconvenient truth is that under the current circumstances, it would be impossible for Hungary to join the European Union today. Orbán has openly said he wants to destroy the project.

This is not in the interests of the people of America or Europe. We need to stop him -- now.

The evil empire must still come to the rescue sometimes it seems.

 "undermine the postwar international norms" + "Hungary's government is a threat to the rules-based international order." =

Rule-based "international " order = don't question the decisions, accept the concequences and migrants, give troops and money to create more consequences, give territories for installations, etc etc... You name it...

Go, NATO, go! Fetch those "bloody" descendants of Attila the Hun! 8)

Not so strange at all, Ken Livingstone knew.

Indeed, good times when only trade surpluses and monetary/fiscal policies matter seem to be over, and the Merkel era too.

Actually the EU is theoretically supposed to represent a certain level of civilization and if Hungary fails to meet that it should be excluded.

After all thats the reason given why Turkey cant join since ages.

I fail to see how NATO could justify invading Hungary, though. They cant do it legally, anyway. Not that this has ever stopped the USA.

On the internet especially Youtube there is lot of admiration for Mr. Orban, while the same cannot be said about Mr. Verhofstadt.

They are in panic now as populist parties are expected to gain votes in the next EU elections at the expense of traditional parties and politicians. I will vote for a party that will support Hungary / Mr. Orban in addition to defending national interests, not EU interests.

I think Trump probably likes Orban. I can't see a war....do you really think Trump gives a shit about a CNN article?

The answer is pretty simple, if the EU was the USSR then we would have German tanks driving along Westminster bridge right to the Parliament and the Buckingham palace even at the slightest mention of the Brexit referendum. Is it happening?

Good on CNN, never failing to uphold neoconservative militarism. It is revealing that EU autocrats are also closet neoconservatives. There I was thinking they were socialist ratbags.

But enough of ideology. Should Hungry be invaded and given the regime change treatment?

Hungary is member of NATO since march 1999.
And this fact is not in any kind linked with Brexit, nor is there any need to be invaded.
And if you should try to find "autocrats", EU is a desert for such plants in blossoming global fields of such atrocities
But looking for folly, take your nonsense headline and think twice about it.

So I take it your answer to the question would be a ‘no’.

Perhaps you should take the matter up with people like Guy Verhofstadt?

The whole question and how it is put is "FAKE NEWS".

You are using it the same way as the MSM uses it against Trump, Hillary, Obama, Banon etc

No, it isn’t fake news. It is very clear what Verhofstadt is doing. You need to recognise that the West has an entrenched ruling elite who are accustomed to a monopoly on power.

Presently their hold on power is being contested, not least by Trump, but also nationalists in Europe. How ruthless will they be in defending their power? If we look at their tactics in America, it seems there are no limits to their actions.

The thing is that they are over reacting. Censorship, political violence, smear campaigns, media propaganda and so forth. All of this has only made Trump look like the good guy. They should have just given him enough rope to hang himself. But they are running scared and desperate to retain power no matter what.

The same goes for the Eastern European strongmen. By trying to force unpopular policies onto countries like Hungry and Poland, the EU is just strengthening those strongmen’s domestic support. In effect by trying to uneemoncraticly force policy onto those countries, they are aiding the decline of democracy in Eastern Europe, then cited that outcome as a justification for intervention.

Maybe autocrats like Verhofstadt could give up on trying to force Eastern Europe to their will? I’m sure that change would greatly aid voters in the east to feel more comfortable with voting for someone other than strongmen.
