(for english speakers that dont speak german: "SPD" is the social democratic party of germany, in german "Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands", shortcut "SPD")

Oh. My. God.

I am laughing TEARS right now.

Man, this is amazing. The socalled "left" SPD-Politician loudly complaints about the results of her own politics.

https://www.welt.de/wirtschaft/article1 ... hland.html

Summarizing English Translation:
The increasing number of rich people is caused by the increased amounts of money thats bequeathed. Rich people are living in their own "caste" now.
Well, thats far from the only reason, but its true: if you're rich enough, theres hardly any property tax at all anymore in germany.

A change in our tax system that was done with the happy help of a certain party called the SPD, which has been part of all but one german administrations since 1998.

I would also like to point out that historically there isnt even one famous liberal economist who had opposed the property tax.

German Original:
„Es kann doch nicht sein, dass wir über einen Hartz-IV-Empfänger bis auf den letzten Cent Bescheid wissen. Und über Reiche in diesem Land wissen wir fast nichts“, sagte Nahles.

English translation:
Nahles asked: "How is it possible that we know the finances of unemployed people (the german program is called Hartz IV) down to every cent, but hardly anything about the rich ?"
Why, guess what. Because of the SPD, and especially because of leading SPD politicians like Nahles. The SPD was member of all german administrations since 1998, except for one.

German Original:
Die SPD will Reiche stärker belasten.

English Translation:
The SPD wants to put more "pressure" (the german word implies it could be taxes) on the rich.
That leads to the question: HOW ? HOW ?? HOW ???

By complaining about the success of their own politics every four years, right before the election ?

Or is there by chance any actual measurement planned ? Any kind of tax, maybe ?

Thats not the first time I hear such a kind of request from Nahles, without any specific or details or whatsoever given. She always says such things in interviews but then in practical politics she exclusively works on destroying the social state.

By the way, as another habit of hers she also always waits for "signals" from her party leadership. Again nothing actually needs to happen. Just "signals".

This is an extremely riddiculous politician. Not that it would make her an execption to the rule, all mainstream german politicians are a joke. Just that she is considered the leading politician of the "left wing" of her party.

The increasing number of rich people is caused by the increased amounts of money thats bequeathed. Rich people are living in their own "caste" now.

And she thinks there's something strange or unusual about this? What was strange and unusual was German society's egalitarianism between 1945 and the fall of the Berlin Wall. In almost every other capitalist nation, the rich have always been living in their own hereditary caste. This is an inevitable consequence of the functioning of the capitalist economic system. Creating Germany's post-War egalitarianism was a conscious decision, which took a lot of effort and legislation to maintain. The SPD stopped maintaining that artificially level playing field in German society, and now they're complaining that the playing field isn't level any more...? :eh:
