It was decided to “count” Jews in Ukraine. Frankly speaking, it happened in one of the twentieth regions in the country - Ivano-Frankivsk region. There is a high probability, that in case of success this “counting” will be distributed in all the regions.
So, what for did the police request the list of members with addresses and mobile phone numbers from the Jewish community of Ivano-Frankivsk region? – Officially, to combat transnational and ethnic organized criminal groups. The community in the attempt to argue answered that in 1941 the Nazis and the Ukrainian police demanded to provide a list of Jews.
Not only Ukrainian, but also Russian and Western mass media payed attention to that situation. So the Israeli diplomat, politician and TV expert JakovKedmi noticed: “They are joining Europe. These are European values. They know that the European integration inUkraine started with the census of Jews. In other words they understand what Europe is.”
It is obvious that “they” are Ukrainian nationalists who are not afraid of anything. Most adults and educated people in the country do not understand their “victorious March”, they still remember the kinship ofUkraine with the republics of the Soviet Union. At that time, the population of the USSR was called “The Soviet people”, and the division into “yids”, “moskals” and “haji” was real only among “lumpen” and “marginal”.
It seems that Ukraine totally consists of these “marginals”. Nationalism is fashionable among young people, marching through Ukrainian towns and cities and throwing up their hands in the Nazi salute. Paradoxically but love to the Nazi symbols, attributes and politics is put in their skinheads, despite the fact that since 1941 the fascists stole Ukrainians into slavery, killed them in death camps, assaulted women, transfused the blood of children to wounded soldiers.
Nowadays other Ukrainian children look up to “the Hitlers”, so that teenagers became the “youth branch” of the party “National Corpus”.
Therefore, Ambassador of Israel intervened in the situation with the census of Jews. The deputies of the Rada addressed the police and the trial began. As a result, some people were dismissed. Then the commitment to democratic values was reaffirmed. It seemed the conflict was resolved. But!
Ukrainian Jews are sure that events in the region were no accident made public.
If necessary Ukrainian police can operationally carry out the census of Jews so that, there will be no public response, critics from abroad, diatribe by the media. In case of leak of information, it will remain unnoticed for those who can raise the alarm. This is due to the fact that nationalism in Ukraine is trivial. Therefore, such leak can lead to the following situation:
Well, this is another scream of those who are oppressed. In recent years there were more dissatisfied.
Ukrainians oppress half the population of the country, accusing them of sympathy for Russia. In 2014 they burned people alive in the house of trade Union in Odessa and nowadays continue shooting guns in Donbass.
So this attempt to “count” Jews can be an experiment, a kind of “reconnaissance of the battle”, an attempt to explore and analyze the reaction of Ukrainian population and from abroad. Will Israel take Jews home? Who and in what terms will submit a protest? How will the USA react? Will the critics be satisfied with the actions relating initiators of “counting” in the region? Will mass media discuss it? In what time will they switch to another theme? What kind of mass media will always discuss this topic? We should pay attention to these journalists and “count” them operationally just in case.
There is some truth in this assumption, because nationalism in Ukraine penetrated into various areas: government, power, structure, and army. Moreover, even if you want to get a position, you should support nationalism; otherwise you will be ignored and criticized.
That is why Ukrainian Jewish fear is justified, the events in the region are provoked not only by stupidity of a local official, who decided to “count” the population. Ambassador of Israel, Members of Parliament and YakovKedmi are sure that most likely this official was substituted in order to implement more complex aims.
