Disagree. If you redistribute the money as cash, market forces still rule, just dulled. Government operates as a monopoly, and even worse, a monopoly that responds to the ideological whims of the ignorant majority. Poor people suck at personal finance, but their collective decisions still reflect a form of marginal utility, unlike the gov'ts.
Any kind of high income tax for political or "fairness" purposes is stupid. You can harvest all the revenue a government could need from land values, and high taxes on the rich almost always get siphoned off to feeding the underclass without actually helping working people. If concentration of wealth is a political issue (which it can be), then the solution is just to nationalize industries.
