will soon be taking up residence in the news cycle as the 2016 summer Olympic Games draw nearer. They've much work to do in cleaning up several problems. Recently added to the existing list is the ZIKA virus. How this will play out is an unknown at this point, but the effect on attendance may be substantial.

It's not all that unusual for people to act in ways which do not promote their best interests. In the United States of America, for example, we have hourly wage earners who, it's alleged, vote Republican.

What problems? Brazil has hosted quite a few international events in the past few decades, and there has never been many problems. There were the FIFA World Cup in 2014, the Pan-American Games in 2007, the Earth Summit in 1992 (and there were 116 heads of state and/or government present at that one!), not to mention the Carnival parades in Rio, which always attract crowds from all over the world, and takes place every year.

The only real problem is the Zika outbreak, but then again, this is only a problem for pregnant women. Zika fever is actually milder than other tropical diseases, which are much more common. It will go away after just a few days, after all. Dengue fever is still more widespread and more dangerous, for example.

Not only to Brazil, but to all of the Americas. The WHO believes that only Canada and Chile will avoid the outbreak, considering they don't have the Aedes mosquitoes there.

Well, for openers there's the problem of water pollution in the bay where some of the water events will be held.

It's funny seen this thread after the Olympics happen and not a single person got Zika because there was no Zika crisis in Rio, or even in Brazil. The allegedly crisis was created situation by UK/USA likely testing virus in Brazil.

The campaign against Brazil and Rio's Olympic was mind blowing to me as someone who's not Brazilian but is living in Brazil. The attacks from UK and USA media was just that: attack.

I honestly felt sorry for Brazilians with the amount of lies and scary tactics imposed on Brazil to try to boycott the Olympics. May this be a lesson and no other South American country hosts a Olympic ever again. I already feel sorry for Japan, as the Olympics come closer they will likely find something to lie about and try to boycott them too.
