No, it's an MBT but it has a small troop compartment. That's really rare. To my knowledge the Palestinians don't have any at-weapons which would be really effective against that. But I remember atleast one case when a Merkava III was destroyed. I recall the Israelis said the Palestinian fighters had dug some 50kg of explosives in a tube in ground, and ignited it by remote control when they had lured the tank to drive in the right place (they had organised a bait ambush elsewhere and the Israelis sent the Merkava to help). The explosion threw out the engine, the turret flew in the air and landed on one of the crew members, but the two crew members in the turret survived.
