I have held an interest in China since as a young lad I used to listen to the news on the wireless as the Second World War drew to an end. Occasionally there would be a mention of the three way war that taking place in China between the Communist led army fighting the Japanese whilst coping with attacks from the Kuomintang.
I then moved onto other things until I was invited to a book launch for “Two years in Peking 1965 1966 written by Reginald Hunt”. This reopened my interest in China which I wanted to explore but the first problem I met was, "what did I need to read?" I looked for a forum where I thought that I may find some advice at to objective reading matter and I hope this is it.
